Galaxy S3 I9300 - hangouts

I have a problem with the hangouts app which is not showing contact names for sms, it just shows numbers but the stock SMS app works fine.
Can anyone tell me why as this has just happened since the update to 4.3.

I am unrooted and using a completely stock i9300.
