Hey, my power button broke while I was playing music on youtube on my phone.

It started off that when I would press the power button, the option menu for shutdown and restart would appear.

Sometimes if I hold it down for a long amount of time the menu appears.

Now It doesn't have any affect, and I have to resort to using the home button in order to light the screen up.

another strange phenomenon is that when I pull the battery and put the battery back in, the phone turns itself on.

I have always had a otterbox defender on the phone, so I dont see how I could have physically broke it.

I'm wondering if it could be fixed without having to have my phone replaced, because I'm weary of replacement phones.

Sounds like the micro-switch is constantly depressed (resembles my mental state, but that's a different story)
:banghead:

If you pop the plastic Power button off you may be able to work around the issue by using an app [Button Savior (non root): http://market.android.com/details?id=com.smart.swkey.nonroot for most of those 'turn screen off manually' needs, just having to use the Power micro-switch for rare power on situations.

But at least you have a reputable source for repair.
