The ATT Optimus G Pro has 32 gig but only 23.3 is available. I don't mind because that still plenty but I know was a lot of mad people about the gs4 software taking up so much memory

What's that around 1GB difference? Sammy was around 8, this is 8.7. Features are getting bigger. I think we should be demanding that 64GB be the minimum.

Woah, woah woah. I don't know if you've heard, but Mods are no longer allowed to make changes to any forums that I participate in. Riddle me this... if nothing is true, how do you know your perception of what is written is real? Go home your drunk to me.

I hope you're joking.

Re: You thought Samsung was bad!

Since the LG and TouchWiz files are nearly the same size, I think its much easier to deal with on a 32GB device. Still somewhat annoying, but stock 4.2.2 seems to be under 1GB if I'm reading it right on my GNex and Nexus 7. As these files keep growing I feel like it's essential that internal storage grow to accommodate it (and it has to be sure, I remember the LG Ally had 256MB available or something like that and my next Android after that was the Thunderbolt which was 32GB. Since that's a Spring 2011, I would have really hoped to be in the 256 GB range by now. I know someone said it's because they have been limited to 64GB chips, but if we're past that now, bring it on!

Re: You thought Samsung was bad!

I'm surprised the LG uses so much because I thought it was much less bloated than Touchwiz. At least it comes in 32 GB minimum.

Re: You thought Samsung was bad!

I hate that so much space it gobbled up with bloatware and stuff the user's don't want or need. Now what we really need is root so we can get bloatware free.

Re: You thought Samsung was bad!

Not that it matters, but it's the same on my windows phone. Of 32gb there is only 24gb for user use and no SD card.

Re: You thought Samsung was bad!

I find 24GB acceptable, far more so than 9.7GB on an S4 that's for sure.

I agree.... 23gb is plenty for most ppl.... I'm just glad it has a micro sd card slot, so memory isn't an issue for me...

Re: You thought Samsung was bad!

Out of curiosity, why didn't they put this stuff in the /system partition like on older phones?

Re: You thought Samsung was bad!

23-24GB is reasonable, but my expectation is 32GB (before formatting and OS) should be the norm with 64GB (before formatting and OS) as the upgraded option. Given the amount of bloatware that you can disable BUT not remove along with OEM UI and other "software features" you may or may not use its eating up the space. At least we have moved past the Droid Charge days of 1.2GB of usable space on a device for apps.

Re: You thought Samsung was bad!

A 16 gb iPhone 5 has 13.5 GB available. A 16 gb iPad 4 has 13.3 gb available. Don't have my 32 gb Nexus 10 handy to see what it has available. If apps and os take up half the space they should be using more memory than 16 gb.

On the lg front, the bloat is mostly in being able to connect with anything, rather than in eye candy. Way overboard, until you find yourself using some of the stuff (i.e. pushing huge files to your PC that won't complete using ES and won't upload to your cloud. Nobody could ever need all of it, but no one will ever say it can't connect to what they need. It's almost overwhelming in redundancy.
