[GALAXY S4] BUG THREAD!! Found a bug?

My air view seems to have a bug.. On my lockscreen a small light should follow your finger like it would with a s-pen. It does not work right away, I have to move my finger around, maybe touch it once, then it only starts recognizing my finger. In the message app, I cannot air view a message. I have to go into one of the messages then press the back button then only it starts working. I know it does not air view on one-liner messages.. I'm still within 7 days to return my phone, or is it just a bug that will get fixed, what do you think??

Do you have Magnification Gestures on in the Accessibility menu? Try turning it off cause it solved my problem really similar to yours,
AirView only worked after when i touch somewhere blank, and stopped working after scrolling.
I tried to toggle all sorts of settings and updated all the softwares i can, reinserted the battery all with no luck.
Finally i tried turning off the Magnification Gestures, the one where you tap three times on you screen to zoom in, and my AirView returned to normal.
This is definitely a bug by either Mag. Gestures or AirView. Samsung should update this.

I just received mine, and the Optical Reader app is simply missing! I have been speaking to Verizon and Samsung back and forth and no one knows what's going on! Can any of you VZW customers please confirm if you have the Optical reader app on your phone? Is anyone else facing this issue?

Hi everyone,

It's my first post and I want to start by saying I'm loving my S4 but did find a few flaws as expected. First off the overheating when in use for over 15 or 20 minutes.
Also there is some smearing of the words when scrolling not sure why it's not a huge deal it's just I wouldn't expect that from a premium device, anyone know if there will be a fix to it?
Sometimes the wrong notification sound goes off when I chose another one.
I also had an issue trying to charge the phone, it wouldn't charge but then when I tried it a few hours later it worked
I also had some connection problems early on but that seems to be ok now, haven't had an issue in a few days
Some of the features don't work well in certain conditions like if the light is not strong

It's about it for now I may find some others while I continue to use the device but other than that it's really awesome and discovering new things with it every day

Thanks

My optical reader app is missing too!

I bought 2 phones for my company. I'll let you know if the other one is missing it also when I get it set up.

EDIT: I chatting with Samsung support and they told me that the Optical Reader app is not included on the Verizon Galaxy S4. Can anyone else confirm that? I have not set up our second phone yet.

Great phone so far, couple of bugs though:

-Auto brightness randomly disengages upon leaving certain apps. It also needs to be a tad more aggressive. We need the Auto+/- options that over seas users have!
-No way to turn off the recommended shortcuts menu that pops up when you have headphones plugged in
-No way to use lock screen widgets with pin/pattern etc enabled
-Homescreen randomly redraws when you come back to it
-Still lag/stuttering. Needs further optimization

I'm having the same issue. My ip hone would connect with my vary audio via bluetooth 100% of the time. With the s4 I never know when the connection will drop. I am not sure but I started noticing this issue after putting the s view cover. .. may be wrong but bluetooth dropping off is annoying. I am researching. .. If I find a solution ill post here. Cheers

One bug that's driving me nuts is the ability of the phone to stay properly connected to my Kenwood BT car receiver. On my S3 we had the older sofware (4.1.2?) and I never had issues, I got into the car, the radio would say "downloading" and in 30 seconds I had full use of the phones calling and audio via BT. It was smooth as silk operation. But now that the S4 has the 4.2.2 software, connecting to my receiver has been a roayl PITA. I'd say MAYBE 25% of the time when I hop in the car, the phone connects. When it doesn't, I open the phone setting and find that the BT settings for either "phone calls" or "playing audio" aren't checked (they were when I left the car say the day before). So I have to check each one of those boxes and the the phone starts to connect. Also, using the Pandora app is nearly 95% useless at this point. Whenever I tune into my receivers Pandora source, the phone never connects up to the phone like it used to so I can't get Pandora to play.

I've reset my car receiver, that helped for maybe a day. I've unpaired the phone, that did little to nothing to help. At this point I never know if/when the phone will pair with the car radio at all. At first I thought it was my radio, but now I'm pretty sure it's the darn 4.2.2. software on the phone, since the older 4.1.2 worked perfectly.

So has anyone encountered this? Anyone been able to fix it? Kenwood doesn't have any newer firmware updates so nothing I can do on that end.

VERY frustrating.

First post here, 3-week old, US Cellular S4.

Don't know if this actually qualifies as a bug, but how about a brick?:-\

Is 3 days a record?

i got my s4 few days a go,but i experience some delay of contact once some one call me..it take some second to display the name..any iadea

Ok, so pretty significant bug: The phone recognizes the wall charger as USB seemingly at random. Pretty common on this forum (thread on it). Leads to MUCH slower charging.

This is the second time I had reprogram the Remote and I'm still having problems.

Either it take a few attempts before it turn on/off like my Samsung TV or Rogers or it just doesn't work like I can't turn anything off or only the Volume would work like with my Denon receiver. :(

Any updates coming soon?

I found a bug. I made a folder and put in all the Samsung branded apps into one folder and then somehow managed to one day when trying to open that folder, made it freeze on the folder so that I could go back to the home screen. Was really weird. Luckily hasn't happened again to me so fingers crossed all is well.

Just got my phone yesterday from Verizon. Worked well for a bit, but wen i tried to open the camera after a couple hours, it said "Warning; camera failed." A reboot fixed it for now.

Also, when nothing is running, about 1.08GB of RAM is being used. I remember reading that the AT&T updated fixed this (and improved battery life), so perhaps verizon didn't launch with the update?

i got this phone for my wife and the gallery keeps crashing or freezing on us. it either freezes, fail to load all the pictures or just go black and kick us out. i unmount the memory card then mount it back, this seemed to work but, problem came right back..any one having this problem?

The only way I got working for her is to get another Gallery app. The phone will take pics with the stock camera. Instead of viewing photos in the stock gallery app. Backout of the camera and go to the new Gallery. This is the only way around it I've found; until Samsung address it

I've had my Tmobil S4 for a couple of weeks with no real issues...until yesterday. The phone is now almost unusable. Freezes and types random things while texting. so much lag. As other's have stated the phone at idle, with no apps running is using 1.08-1.2 GB ram. I have no widgets installed on the phone. Ive disabled all of the voice/air/eye features. S-voice double tap the home screen is off, debug mode and shut off animations. power cycled the phone and still it lags on just about every app. I am curious if a factory reset will help. I was about to root the device and flash CM10.1 but don't want to root a broken device...any ideas?

I got my S4 from AT&T from the States last week, but since I'm using it in New Zealand the phone got to be unlock. For the first 4 days everything worked great and I start to get attached to it until yesterday all in a sudden i got no connection whatsoever. I can't connect to mobile data, can't make any phonecall, can't sent any txt messages even when I tried to call it, it goes straight to my voice msg. I got to restart my phone anytime it happens and its pretty annoying knowing this phone is just lest than a week old. Anyone know what happens with this issue?

cheers

I had the same problem. It was Lightflow causing it. Not sure if they are working on that or not.

my internet browser "speaks" to me. No way to turn it off that I can find.

There is a setting for blind users called TalkBack this may be your problem...switch it off and any settings in it's sub menu

settings>accessibility>Talkback

Cheers
