Galaxy S4: Is a glass screen protector really worth it?

Re: Is a glass screen protector really worth it?

I think it's worth it. After getting the glass screen protector, I don't think I'll ever go back to plastic unless the glass isn't available. I got the Spigen Glast.r for my phone and got one for my girlfriends phone 2 weeks later. I bought the Mime ghost glass ver.2 on July 4 for $20, no tax and free shipping as a back up. I ended up giving it to my brother when he got his GS4 and I doubt he'll be going back to plastic either.

Re: Is a glass screen protector really worth it?

Everyone's got their own thing with screen protectors. I personally cannot stand not having a screen protector. I get super paranoid knowing that I don't have one (I put a Zagg screen protector on my TI-Nspire CX CAS calculator -__-). I've used the Spigen Glas.t, I like it. But I opted into getting a Zagg InvisibleSHIELD HD just because I got it for a discount (brought 25.99 down to 12.99) and I didn't feel like ordering anything online. Whenever I install Zagg screen protectors I ALWAYS wear disposable gloves (fingerprint paranoia) and I always use compressed air to blow away any potential dust particles after cleaning the screen with windex or eye glass cleaner. I've only had one issue of dust particles getting onto the screen as I install which was with my Droid Razr but I didn't use compressed air to clean it off.

Re: Is a glass screen protector really worth it?

I think it's funny how people protect glass... With glass. I mean how does that even work. Won't an impact on the protector be recursive and travel to the screen as well? To be honest i wish they'd make smartphone screens with plastic. That's what my old opti s screen was made out of and that thing was a tank. I always wondered why it would get back up from a fall like nothing happened.

Alot of the glass protectors will shatter but keep the phones glass from shattering in the process. Plastic screens still have glass underneath anyway.

There's a video of a guy who dropped his S2 face down with a glass screen protector. The screen protector broke but the phone screen wasn't harmed. To me, it's worth the extra $20-$35 (depending on which one you buy) for that extra protection and the peace of mind. It also feels way better than other screen protectors I've used.

Re: Is a glass screen protector really worth it?

I have the Spigen Nano on my S4.i can't yet speak to the protection value (and hoping the opportunity never presents itself), but I must say it feels identical to the native screen and is just as responsive. I think it would be a glass protectors or naked for me. I hated the feel of plastic protectors.

Re: Is a glass screen protector really worth it?

I purchased tech armor screen protectors for $7.00. The package comes with 3 protectors and a LIFETIME WARRANTY. Watched the short suggested installation youtube video. Installation went well with zero bubbles on first try. There's no problem with responsiveness and feels really smooth. This is a great value and well worth the$7.00 which included shipping.

Re: Is a glass screen protector really worth it?

I had bought a Nilkin Tempered Glass Screen Protector for my Note 3. Guess what...after a month, the screen cracked by itself. I'm very certain it was not caused by impact nor wrong handling. So, all these 9H hardness is just bull....... never trust a chinese brand!

Re: Is a glass screen protector really worth it?

Be sure to register if you get the Zagg. It's the only way to get free for life. I've already had one replacement and they said when the new 'glass' for s4 comes out I can send my old one back and get this one. Great deal!

Re: Is a glass screen protector really worth it?

for my experience, i think it's worth. lucky i bought the Gearmaxx ultra clear screen protector for protection, if not the screen is full of scratch after i dropped my Note 3 on the ground couple times

Re: Is a glass screen protector really worth it?

After either having used plastic screen protectors for years, or leaving the screen without a protector, I can sincerely say that after having a glass screen protector, there is no turning back. Whether spigen, techarmor, or tech pro, you cannot go wrong. All pluses and no minises. The screen is smooth, clear, beautiful and feels just as good as the naked screen. My only regret is not doing it sooner.

This is my friends One and my S4 and soon on another friends Note II

Its worth it. I've been using MIME Ghost Glass for about a month now and I'll never look back. Feels great and is clear with no rainbow effect.

very true, if you spend money on a expensive smartphone, don't be cheap and get yourself a tempered glass, there are many, zagg, spigen, I've come across a brand called helium digital and its only 0.33 mm on my S5 and there very easy to install, coming from a person who can't install the cheapo plastic ones with out a bubble or two, with tempered glass, best way to install it is in a steamy bathroom, and never touch the bottom of the protector, line it up and just lay it down, the steam in the bathroom will help, and just press down the middle and watch it lay down perfectly
