I just removed the a RAM manager (Clean Master) from my Verizon S4 and now for the first time in a week since I updated to 4.4.2 my phone is not hot to the touch. It has to be something to do with the bloatware Samsung and/or Verizon added to the update because my Nexus 7 with 4.4.2 works great with Clean Master and regardless what has been said about the memory managers on Android, the Nexus 7 "feels" noticeably faster when memory usage gets above 80% and I clean out the memory. At this point I'm just glad my phone isn't hot anymore. I also took the advice to go to "Maps" settings and cleared data and cache, but that didn't stop the phone from being hot. Once I uninstalled the memory manager the phone started cooling off. Until I see in the stock battery monitor that "Screen" is using more power than "Android System" I won't know if this is resolved or not. Getting one day of battery use when I used to get three is maddening.

My feeling "if it ain't broken don't fix it" that would be for me. My S4 is 99.99% perfect using 4.3 Jelly bean. 1% is battery gets hottest @ 95-100 degrees that's doing heavy browsing, I can live with it, battery last most all day. Everything perfect.I've been able to put it off since release but I'm starting to think it's about time to just do it. I'm wondering if there's just as many good experiences as not so good you know?! Thank you.
Has anyone actually had any luck with this update?
Cool, I think I'm gonna do it!Sure. Me, for instance. And lots of people. One thing you have to remember is that by definition people run to forums to complain about problems. The zillions of people who have no problems, unless they are regular members, are pretty much silent. They don't rush to the forum to say "gee, nothing changed."
The only real issue I had with KK was the change in how SD cards were handled. That's not a bug--it is supposedly a feature for security.
In any event, I have 0 problems otherwise.
