Galaxy S4 SD card issue

Just had an issue with a Kingston 64 Gig card. Sent my phone into constant reboot motion, lost files, etc.

Sounds like a Samsung issue to me more than a specific card brand.

I'm using a 64GB Sandisk Extreme and haven't had any problems. I hope it stays that way. I do notice the extra speed and it's nice.

Sent from my humble S4

According to Sandisk support when I talked to them around June, 2013, and all over the Amazon reviews for months, is a known incompatibility between the Sandisk Ultra Micro SD cards (possibly others), and the Galaxy phones (possibly others). The card can "fail" any time from days to many months down the road. Sandisk says that Samsung won't admit it, and so Sandisk created a ROM patch that is applied only during manufacturing, to circumvent the problem.

Contact Sandisk for free replacement. I was told that the new card batch started after March, 2013, but the only way to tell, is based on a small serial number on the card, that requires a magnifying glass, if you can even then read it.

I do not know if other cards from other mfgs are involved, but Sandisk says they have stepped in and solved it on theirs. Good luck!

Well, My 64 gb SD card is no longer recognized by my Galaxy S4. The card works perfectly on my PC but the phone says it's empty when I try to look at files on it.

There should be some class action against Samsung for releasing such a pathetic product on the market. I have had nothing but issues since I purchased it to replace my trusty iPhone 3gs. I am seriously considering switching back to the 3gs until my contract runs out on the S4 and I can buy a new Apple phone.

I am so angry right now, I have had this memory card for less than a week.

Daniel,
Did you read my post? Contact Sandisk and they will get your bad card from you, and give you a new one (they pay shipping both ways) with the Samsung compatibility fix built in. Surely it will fix the problem. Of course, you can't replace the battery, nor add any memory to the Apple phone, and you can camp out at the Apple store if you have a problem. Just call 1-866-Sandisk (1-866-726-3475) for free replacement. Lifetime warranty. 11A - 10 P ET weekdays.

Maybe Sandisk is at fault, and other high speed cards, just don't know, but Sandisk has responded with a new version after March 2013.
Good luck, and let us know!

Phonarena article (there are otherarticles out now, also)...
SanDisk says it produced some bad 32GB and 64GB microSD cards

Oh, and what other S4 issues are you having on what carrier?

I have been using a Sandisk Ultra 64 GB Ultra Micro SD in my Samsung S2 for about 6 months, it was working perfectly. put it straight in my new S4 after getting rid of the system folders from the S2 and it keeps mounting and unmounting. I am hoping the Kit Kat update will resolve this as it seems to be a software issue if not it's going back. Great phone otherwise

I have the same 16 Gb SanDisk card that I have been using since my first smartphone in 2010 (original galaxy s). not one issue with it in my s4

Maybe try formatting it in the phone (assuming you haven't already done so). According to stuff I've read on the forums, supposedly for a time Sandisk SD cards were not fully compatible with the S4 (supposedly Samsung's fault), but Sandisk then changed something in the cards so they would work. I have no idea whether this is accurate. You might want to check with Sandisk to see what they say can/should be done.

I have the S4 and after installing the 64 gb card started having problems after about 2 months. I thought it was the camera system. Then I thought itt was my computers inability to read the format. Yesterday I discovered it's been the card all along. Something happened to the card while it was used within my S4. I formated the card and now it only reads as having 30 avail. gbs.
