Galaxy S4 SD card issue

I've had my Galaxy S4 for about a year. Not new to Android, so was sad to find I couldn't move most of my apps and all of my pics and music to the SD card. Also, the apps I was able to move are unable to install the autoupdates. However, I've read that the latest Android update allowed the movement of apps to the card. Whenever I try to move anything, apps, pics, music, folders -- I receive a "unable to move" message, or "moving failed" message. What gives? Is it the card itself? Makes me quite frustrated and jaded to android.

Moving apps to the SD card still depends if the developer permits it.
