Galaxy S4 Stuck at AT&T Logo

Hi all. I have a rooted Galaxy S4 which, until recently, worked like a charm. Recently when I go to reboot, the phone does it's cycle, all the way down to the dimmed AT&T logo, but simply doesn't get to the lock screen.

2 days ago when I had this issue, on one occasion I put my phone in my pocket and about 5 minutes later I took it out and to my surprise it was on my lock screen.

Today, it ran out of battery and such, I haven't had such lucky flukes. I tried wiping the cache partition, taking out SD/SIM cards, trying to clear debris from the power button, etc. but nothing seems to work.

One particular thing I noticed while researching is that most people get stuck on the "SAMSUNG" logo, while I'm on the AT&T Logo. After being stuck on the AT&T logo for a while, pressing the power button causes the phone to vibrate for a little, and pressing it successively causes the phone to vibrate successively.

I know a factory reset will fix it, but I really don't feel like losing /all/ of my data.

Besides hoping for that lucky fluke again, I really don't know what to do. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Did you do the obvious and pull the battery? Sometimes we overlook the simple.

Here's what to try next:
  1. Pull battery.
  2. Wait 30 seconds.
  3. Hold volume up and put battery back in to get into recovery mode.
  4. Wipe cache.
  5. Reboot.

I did do this earlier, but I did it again just now just in case. Sadly, doesn't work. You think getting a new battery would help? Or maybe draining the battery completely then charging then trying to start the phone?

Can you go to your phone service provider's store and see if they'll let you try a battery from another phone for testing purposes? That way you can determine if it's the battery or not.

yeah, I'll probably do that tomorrow. Is there any way to backup the phone without turning it on? Thanks for your help by the way

before I plugged it in, it ran out of battery. I plugged it into my computer and started charging; still stuck at the AT&T screen. I heard the sound that plays when you plug a USB in but I can't seem to locate the area where I'd access the phone via the computer,

An autoplay should popup on your computer when it recognizes the device. Try opening Windows Explorer and see if it's listed as a drive.

When you go to the store, ask them to back it up before doing anything.

A "Fluke" happened. I left it to boot for about 20 minutes and it finally reached my lockscreen. I definitely had it booting for longer earlier. Either way, my phone is functional now. Thanks for your help and support!

EDIT: And like 2 hours later it self-reboots and is stuck again. I feel like it just takes a /very/ long time to boot but it's functional (kinda). I think I'm going to backup all my info and do a factory reset.
