Galaxy S4 Stuck at AT&T Logo

Hi all. I have a rooted Galaxy S4 which, until recently, worked like a charm. Recently when I go to reboot, the phone does it's cycle, all the way down to the dimmed AT&T logo, but simply doesn't get to the lock screen.

2 days ago when I had this issue, on one occasion I put my phone in my pocket and about 5 minutes later I took it out and to my surprise it was on my lock screen.

Today, it ran out of battery and such, I haven't had such lucky flukes. I tried wiping the cache partition, taking out SD/SIM cards, trying to clear debris from the power button, etc. but nothing seems to work.

One particular thing I noticed while researching is that most people get stuck on the "SAMSUNG" logo, while I'm on the AT&T Logo. After being stuck on the AT&T logo for a while, pressing the power button causes the phone to vibrate for a little, and pressing it successively causes the phone to vibrate successively.

I know a factory reset will fix it, but I really don't feel like losing /all/ of my data.

Besides hoping for that lucky fluke again, I really don't know what to do. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Re: Galaxy S4 Stuck at AT&T Logo

Did you do the obvious and pull the battery? Sometimes we overlook the simple.

Here's what to try next:
  1. Pull battery.
  2. Wait 30 seconds.
  3. Hold volume up and put battery back in to get into recovery mode.
  4. Wipe cache.
  5. Reboot.

Re: Galaxy S4 Stuck at AT&T Logo

I did do this earlier, but I did it again just now just in case. Sadly, doesn't work. You think getting a new battery would help? Or maybe draining the battery completely then charging then trying to start the phone?

Re: Galaxy S4 Stuck at AT&T Logo

Can you go to your phone service provider's store and see if they'll let you try a battery from another phone for testing purposes? That way you can determine if it's the battery or not.

Re: Galaxy S4 Stuck at AT&T Logo

yeah, I'll probably do that tomorrow. Is there any way to backup the phone without turning it on? Thanks for your help by the way

Re: Galaxy S4 Stuck at AT&T Logo

before I plugged it in, it ran out of battery. I plugged it into my computer and started charging; still stuck at the AT&T screen. I heard the sound that plays when you plug a USB in but I can't seem to locate the area where I'd access the phone via the computer,

Re: Galaxy S4 Stuck at AT&T Logo

An autoplay should popup on your computer when it recognizes the device. Try opening Windows Explorer and see if it's listed as a drive.

Re: Galaxy S4 Stuck at AT&T Logo

When you go to the store, ask them to back it up before doing anything.

Re: Galaxy S4 Stuck at AT&T Logo

A "Fluke" happened. I left it to boot for about 20 minutes and it finally reached my lockscreen. I definitely had it booting for longer earlier. Either way, my phone is functional now. Thanks for your help and support!

EDIT: And like 2 hours later it self-reboots and is stuck again. I feel like it just takes a /very/ long time to boot but it's functional (kinda). I think I'm going to backup all my info and do a factory reset.
