Galaxy S4 text message issues

My friend has a Galaxy S4 from Sprint and when she gets text messages she gets them all at one time. Say I send her 20 text messages within 20 minutes she will receive them 30 minutes later but all at one time.

What are we missing? A setting or bad phone?

I had a similar problem with my S4. Also, sending MMS texts was near impossible. I fixed both by backing up the phone with Kies and doing a reset. Restored everything from Kies and its like a new phone.
