My brother has an S5, it's been giving him issues for awhile but it's always been usable even with the issues. Right now it is doing a sort of boot loop, when turning on it shows the Samsung logo and then the AT&T logo and then some sort of green/teal screen with 2 dots at the top, 2 gears and towards the bottom it says Android is Starting, under that it says Starting Apps and has a bar that doesn't do anything. It then gets to the lock screen, i can unlock it or leave it and it will auto reboot back to the Samsung logo and do the same thing over again. If i unlock it then i can play with it for half a second before it reboots, strangely it displays the Check rear cover popup right before it reboots. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this without losing data? What could have caused this? Seems like a botched update but i didn't think it was even receiving updates anymore

Try clearing the cache in recovery and restarting. Maybe update not starting up successfully.

That was actually the first thing i tried. I can get into recovery and download mode so i guess i'll have to do the factory reset. If the factory reset does not fix it, do you know where i can find the stock rom for it? It's the AT&T G900A with the baseband G900AUCS4DQD1
