galaxy s5 camera lens cracked

Is it ok to keep using the camera if that outer screen is shattered? Barring any other physical damage from dropping of course. Does that outer covering affect the camera's function in any way? My pictures look fine, but I'm not sure if i'm damaging the lens by not having that protective glass.

ok, i got it and installed it.

I will take some pics later.

The piece is glass, but it has the adhesive on it. I believe it should be enough to keep water out, but i do not want to test it.

It is actually a piece of glass, with black on it.

The fit is perfect on it though.

I have one i am going to test to see how well it holds up

soooo, after all of this.

My camera will not take pics that are focused.
So, sprint is replacing it with a new phone.

I guess this is a known issue as well.

BTW, this sprint store i went to is sending out the phones to be repaired with broken lenses, as long as the phone itself does not look damaged. They know it is an issue

did your camera take focused pics before you installed the new glass? i dont see why new glass would mess with the focus, is it the same glass as original?
im not taking my phone for a replacement with the lens cracked thell say i dropped it
ill put the ebay glass on then if it doesnt focus right ill send it in under warranty for replacement

I have an extra glass of some one wants. But the reason for non focus is a camera defect, not the glass

I'm using the Spigen Neo Hybrid With Metallic Buttons and it keeps the camera off of surfaces. I think it was a mistake for Samsung to have the camera protruding the way it does.

I couldn't agree more love spigen cases. I have the tough armor and the Neo Hybriod as well. Both are good for durability just difference in size.

Mine is starting to get scratches on the glass over the heart rate sensor, and I have a sview wireless case that recesses it pretty well

I have had my Galaxy s5 for less than two months and out of no where I picked up my phone and the lens was shattered. No matter what phone I have I always keep it protected with a case and a screen protector; I work with cell phones I know how important it is to keep your phone protected. I have never broke a phone and had to do an insurance claim, now all of a sudden I have to pay $175 to replace my phone because this tiny piece of glass broke. Now that I have read this post I am sure that it is an issue with the phone, not the owners. It is good to know that Samsung will replace it for about $100 less than doing an insurance claim, however I am angry that I have to pay a dime. I am pro Samsung, I love their products and I have had many of their phones, but I an highly upset with the s5 and this issue.

I have an Incipio and mine broke
Which model of incipio? I've been looking at getting the dualpro.
When people say otterbox or any other brand why don't they say which model? Otterbox has three models for the S5. Incipio has 4 or 5. I think it would be more informative.

I just got a basic Incipio NGP case that I purchased from Amazon, nothing fancy. I wanted some protection while I was waiting for Otterbox to come out with the color that I wanted in the symmetry case.

Guys, i just curious about this issue, mine is fine after more than one week and sometimes i use spigen neo hybrid but i just use its rubber case. I have some question about this issue:
1. Did you use otterbox case or something on your s5?
2. Did you put your s5 in your pocket (especially jeans) before the camera lens cracked?

I have basically the same problem. Two weeks into owning the (otherwise amazing) S5 the glass covering the camera lens broke. I did not drop it, i did not do anything other than sit down with it in my pocket (which you would ASSUME a cel phone could handle.)

Samsung offered to take a look (because it was under warranty) even though I CLARIFIED THREE TIMES that there was physical damage. I bought a temp phone, and sent my S5 in. 2weeks later they write to tell me that they will NOT be repairing the phone "due to physical damage." When i called to explaining that i believe (as i HAD said when i sent it in that this was due to a design flaw) they just kept repeating that it was not covered and that i could pay them $166 to have them repair their faulty design. Booo

I had same thing happened to Camera Glass cover. This is the reply I received from Samsung
