Galaxy S5: How's everyone's battery life so far?

I am thinking about upgrading my Droid Razr MAXX since it's been almost two years. But I'm not sure the S5 battery is quite as good (I know everything else is better, though). I streamed a video for 4 hours on my MAXX today (something I never do) and still have 51% left after being unplugged for 10 hours. Can the S5 battery come close???

I get about a 1-2% drain per hour in standby. With the last screen shots I posted with the phone being used at work all day it was only 4.7% per hour according to gsam and better battery stats.

I am concerned with my battery life. Attaching a screen shot of my battery consumption for the day. Is it normal for the Android System to consume majority of the battery and the phone to be down to 60% with average use?

You won't even come close to those numbers. You'll have a lightning quick phone with good battery life though. Motorola doesn't go for speed but rather efficiency. While this is good the phones tend to become very laggy before the 2 year contract ends.

I used to use a Maxx but I switched away. I do miss the battery at times but I enjoy the features of Samsung more.

I unplugged mine when I went to bed at 1130 and woke up at 7 and it was at 98% -- it was on wifi and location was turned off.

I'm in kind if a Catch 22 as far as battery life! I had a 5200mAh Hyperion extended battery on my S4. Yes it was thicker but that thing was a beast and had me spoiled!

The ONLY downside to it was I couldn't use the standard case/holster that Verizon stocks which is stellar!

When I got the S5, I intentionally went in and tweaked all the battery saving tips and was excited about the dual power saving mode.

After seeing how the extra power saving mode operates, I was disappointed and don't see myself using it much.

The battery seems to be okay, but I'm truly hoping someone comes out with a little stronger battery without adding any thickness, because I really like the standard case/holster for these phones.

I have seen posts in this thread where people have gotten close to or more than 8 hours of SoT (Or were on pace for getting it). So I wouldn't say it's that farfetched. I have seen the Maxx get 11+ hours, which is certainly not possible on the S5, but 8 is

I've seen 6+ hours of screen on time with ~20% remaining, so that puts them at around 7 hours and 30 minutes. Not too bad considering you're getting a larger, higher resolution display and a smaller battery.

A lot if those appeared to have mobile data turned off and we have no idea how bright their display was or the given signal strength in the area.

I'm happy with the battery life so far. 42% remaining after being used most of the day, on 4G for most of it but turned wifi on in the evening to stream some stuff to the TV via chromecast. I made a few phonecalls, used Chrome for quite a bit, downloaded some songs to spotify, took a few photos, pretty impressed actually!

True, but even with mobile data on I'm sure they could have gotten ~7 hours SoT. Which again, isn't a bad trade-off considering everything else is an improvement.

I too have excellent Standby battery draining. I loose about the same. Very little.

10-15 minutes for 1%? Normal drain is closer to 3-4 minutes per percentage. If you're getting 10-15 minutes you have some sort of God phone

If that is true, you're on pace for more than 20 hours of screen time, which seems way too high. For the S5 the most I've seen is ~8.
