I'm on 4.4.2 phone version SM-G900V.Not sure what else info I need.I currently have TowelRoot, and really only use it for FolderMount.I'm kind of confused with some of the methods of rooting for lollipop, so a clear tutorial would be nice, but I can probably follow any.

There are a number of methods of rooting, depending on which model of the Galaxy S5 you have. See, 41 Galaxy S5 models - Dummies Guide

For those with heavily locked bootloaders, Verizon & AT&T, the Towelroot method is preferred as you have found out. Unfortunately, the latest clonewares released by these two carriers has a mega locked down and unrootable bootloader. See, Verizon's new OE1 & OG5 updates prevent downgrading or rooting

Therefore, as you are already rooted on Verizon, you are one of the lucky ones!

This link describes how to update an already rooted phone to the latest Verizon Lollipop release, OG5...
