Galaxy S5 Verizon September Update.

I don't use the visual voice mail feature, however if you want to use that, it has to be enabled on your account and you might need to do the setup from your voice mail icon to engage it, and if so under your account, choose change features for your line to see if it is actually enabled on your phone line.

Hope this helps.

"Anyone else getting prompted over and over for the VZ Visual Voice Mail after the update? Every reboot it shows up so far .."

Yes, and it needs to stop. They convinced me that the basic visual voicemail was a free added service, so I go through the sign up process and find out it's a free premium trial. Whatever. I don't have the time to figure out their doublespeak so I ended the free trial and then they let me "keep" my old voicemail. Gee, thanks. I hardly ever use it anyway. At least the constant reminders and crap up in my status bar stopped.

Make sure the Caller ID app they give you is not going either, that is a trial as well, but the visual needs to be checked on that to work for caller id, that is actually a free service which might be conflicting with visual voice mail. Might to see if it is turned on, once you open it and you deny the service then it will give you the free option afterwards. That happen to some people on the last update.

So I've read all 4 pages of replies. I've gone back and forth whether or not to update (I don't let it do auto upgrades/updates). One post will convince me to update and the next will convince me not to (lol) In the end, the phone isn't broken so I'm not going to fix it :)

Yes you do loose the water proof cover, but the extended case is actually pretty cool for the extended battery and back plate, as long as you don't drop it in the ocean you should be just fine.

What do you do for a case when you have the bump-out back cover?

I've had issues since updating as well and have started a thread about trying to get a fix for the texting problem that's is unlivable.

I also get a crash notice continually from car mode and I experienced a return off the bluetooth dropout that I was so excited to have fixed.

There was also a huge surge in my data usage, .23GB on one day (huge for me), that I can't explain.

How do we revert to the old version?

I clearly not understand what is this code? Can you tell us something about your new update? After that only I can tell you my though on it.

Just wondering if you read any of the replies, including mine clearly stating what the update was.

To answer the visual voice mail question, mine just worked, and I didn't get asked to sign up for any premium service either. Odd your did that. I haven't had any issues.

Yes, but you can take the update, flash the NCG kernal, reroot, then flash the NHA kernal, check out the XDA thread

I can confirm that this works. Just flash the NCG kernel, root with Towelroot (was very difficult because I kept getting "Unfortunately health service stopped" etc many many times, also it was very slow and unresponsive at times), verify root and install SuperSu and update binaries, then flash the NHA kernel and your good to go.

Anyone figure out a reason for this? mine is failing as well. tried 4G and on wifi. Multiple restarts as well. VZW

Mine failed even after a factory reset. I wound up having to flash the factory 4.4.2 ROM with Odin then the update worked. Instructions and the necessary files are on a thread at xda.

Thought this update was suppose to fix Blue tooth. Ever since the update I've had issues with my blue tooth . When ever it connects to any of my devices it displays my phone number or acts like it's in a call . If I reboot the phone the issue goes away for a while but then comes back . Worst part is my Bluetooth was fine before the update . WTF

I use the case that is made for the extended battery and back plate.

It's called Hyperion HoneyComb TPU Case for Extended Battery.

As an extra layer of protection. I also have the Moshi iVisor Glass for Samsung Galaxy S5 - Black, that keeps it nice and dry from water and protects the screen from scratches and finger prints.

Check and see if your Bluetooth device has a firmware update available.

I had the same thing with my Bluetooth Headset, after upgrading the firmware, the problem went away.

Sadly it is all of the blue tooth devices I own . 2 headsets and my car stereo . Like I said every thing was fine before the update . I may unpair everything from the phone and see if that fixes it .

Yea I would do that and see just for the heck of it if there is a new firmware update for both your headsets and a new dashboard update for your car.

Other than that, is everything else running good for you.

I've noticed my phone falling back to 3G more often since the update. Doesn't seem to hold 4G LTE as well. 👎

Change your Mobile Network Mode to Global, if you were already on Global, then choose LTE 2nd option instead and under Global Data Roaming Access, make sure it is set to Allow access for all trip, then reboot your phone. See if that helps you, sometimes I have to use Global, depends on where you’re at.
