since my favorite color is gold I would go with the gold one, but I hope it will have a nice grip to it and I'm pretty sure someone would say it looks like a band-aid... so my choice is in the middle; a "meh"

I think that considering its dust and water resistance the won't go metal, do this seems like a nice option. I like the look of the blue a lot

TBH, the gold version actually does kinda resemble a band-aid.

So far, I'm seeing that the dimpled back is actually getting mixed responses. I actually thought lots of guys are gonna like it.

The choice of material I can't speak to because I would have to actually have it in my hand to be able to accurately judge it. But I can say that I preferred the smooth look of the previous Galaxy devices. I also don't like the blue and gold color choices. Even though I had the gold iPhone, the gold on the S5 doesn't look good to me. Like the black a lot better than the other colors. I do not like the faux chrome band on the sides. That makes it look even cheaper in my opinion. I disliked when Samsung put it on the Note 3 and I still don't like it on the S5.

Not excited about the new back. Will reserve final judgement for when I see it in person. I would have preferred the faux leather on the Note 3. Photos of the S4 Black Edition look great in my opinion.

Well, I do hope we get faux leather back covers soon, whether it's aftermarket or genuine. That's just the beauty of removable covers.

I don't like it at all. I prefer the plain plastic back on my S4. I don't like the fake leather crap on the Note either. If it's not going to be metal, I'd prefer plain plastic over that band aid crap. LOL

I honestly don't see what all the fuss is about the back really. I'm almost 100% sure that some 3rd party companies will come out with some really nice back plates that will change the look to your liking if your so inclined to do so.

I'm not going with the S5 not because I don't like it but simply because I want to try something else....and possibly with greater specs, whenever that comes, lol! Note 4 anyone?!

Samsung sells a lot more phones than Moto. Customizing every single one is not ideal...
There are third party battery doors made of leather/metal for those who want them

Well, I do hope some case companies actually use the removable back cover to their advantage and release them with different materials, like leather, another form of plastic, and maybe even metal.

Those look amazing. Unfortunately, they're skins, and any inexperienced person may find it a bit tricky to put it on. Looking for a back cover replacement. Hope some manufacturers get on board with that.

That said, I'm really interested in those carbon skins for the HTC One. Might order one of those.

It's not the material that puts me off the phone, I have had S3 and S4 and i'm just plain bored with the design in general, I could have forgave them if it had the best specs on the market but it simply doesn't.

IMO the Xperia Z2 is specced higher and could possibly be a better phone, I'm just waiting to see what the HTC One has to offer before making a decision but the Z2 is in the lead right now.

To bad the Z2 is a GSM phone and not CDMA. I suppose Tmobile users might be able to use it since they are GSM. Is AT&T GSM or CDMA?? Hell, I'll go to ANY carrier where I can use the Z2!!
