Galaxy S6 - how to keep ringer ON but all other notifications OFF.

There are 2 days at work i need to keep my ringer on for calls from daycare. However, even though they are all set to off, i continue to get notifications for FB messages, replies, and twitter notifications.

Can someone help?

Welcome to Android Central! If it's primarily FB and Twitter, go to the App Manager, select those apps, and uncheck the Show Notifications box.

If it's one certain number you have to worry about, you can set up "Do Not Disturb" and add that contact as an exception.

just go to settings - sounds and notifications - volume and BAM!


or just hit the volume up/down and expand the volume panel

Ha ha, that'll work too! Not all phones split the ringtone and notification volumes, so if that's an S6 feature, then that's certainly the best answer. I also wasn't entirely sure if the OP simply didn't want notifications at all (i.e., not even appearing in the status bar).

thank you for responses. But The problem when you want to increase the volume and press up button - which one you increase?

it depends. if you don't have any app open then pressing the volume keys will adjust the ringtone volume. if you have a media player open then it will adjust the media volume.

Another option and one that I use at night so that I can only get calls is to go into Setting>Sounds and notifications>scroll down to notifications "Do not disturb" From here you can select all sorts of options to just turn it on or off or set it to turn on/off automatically on certain days/times.

I use an app called Timeriffic. It's like do not disturb, but you can control more stuff and set different profiles for different days and times.
