Galaxy S6 - Phone Lag

Why is this phone so laggy?

So, I originally bought this phone and returned it for a g4. However, I didn't like the feel of look of the g4, so I went back to the s6. While I like this phone alot I'm having trouble dealing with the lag that crops up, particularly in web pages and scolling. This site is a major example of when I'm scrolling the forums its almost unusable. Since I can return this phone and try the g4 again, I'm really hoping there's a way to deal with this or if future software patches could fix this. I'm in att which hasn't received the 5.1 update yet, so does that fix these issues? Did I make a major mistake going back to the s6? I'm confused why no reviews seem to mention this lag.

I am now using google now launcher and as many google/3rd part apps as possible and my S6 is a LOT smoother... Seems like a Samsung/Touchwiz problem..

Are you running an anti-virus/anti-malware app that's hogging your system resources?
Have you disabled AT&T bloatware yet?

Which browser are you using? If you're on Chrome, have you tried installing Chrome Samsung Support Library?

Use the Android Central App or connect with Tapatalk instead. If you're trying to load this website/forum in a mobile browser it's not going to perform well on any phone.

I've been on AT&T with my 64GB S6 since launch day. Not experiencing any performance issues (whether I use Nova Prime or TouchWiz).

If your using Chrome you might try something else. I never thought much of the Opera browser till I got the s6 and tried it. Very smooth and the text wrap is awesome. FWIW, all my devices struggle to be smooth on this site. No idea wtf's up on AC, but since every other site works fine I'm thinking it's here. Laggy jerky and slow at times.

Zero lag here as well. But I don't use very many of the stock apps either, wondering if that makes some difference. My S6 is easily as fast or faster than my iPhone 6 plus which is just flat-out boring to use.

Have you tried using Firefox? This site is pretty heavy with ads and chrome tends to run crappy on it. Get the as block ad on for Firefox and should help out a lot.

I just mainly hope I didn't make a mistake going back to the s6 over the g4. I went back to the s6 because I liked the size more and I thought its screen was better
But I didnt exactly hate the g4. In fact it had some advantages over the s6 like battery life. And I hope I dont regret this decision the next two years or so.

Exactly. I am not a rooter or jailbreaker, I always say the day iPhone adda customization is the day I consider their phones again.

Yeah had said I would never return to a Samsung. Mainly cause I did not like their ui.. The gs6 looked so beautiful had to get it.. Love the phone but I also experience that crazy lag every once in a while and I get stuck in that unlock screen but it locked now I gotta wait it's a mess.. That being said I really want that note 5...had more ram though lol

I work for a cellphone repair center. I have people come in with this issue every single day since lollipop came out. The fact of the matter is that this issue CAN be resolved without wiping your phone or having to power cycle it all the time. All I ever do is remove the back cover from the s6 and pop the battery cable off for a minute or 2. after you plug the battery back in and put the backing back on... the device will run smooth as silk. I dont know why this works and the long hold on the power button that is supposed to simulate a battery pull doesnt. but I can tell you from experience that this resolve the issue permanently for about 75% of the devices that I work on. Just be careful... it can be very damaging to the device if you do not take your time and use the correct tools.

I recently updated to 5.1.1 and notice that there's pretty huge lag before the keyboard appears.

For example, I press on the google search widget as I want to search something, I tap on the search bar and the phone just sits there, 4 or 5 seconds later, they keyboard will appear. After that initial delay, the keyboard seems to appear at a normal rate. Just every now and then it seems to have big delays in showing up.

Seems to have only happened after the 5.1.1 update. Never used to be that bad before it. Anyone else experience this issue? Really don't want to wipe my phone and and start it from scratch.

This is why I may ditch my 6 for the iPhone. One should not have to keep restoring a phone to get optimal performance.

The lag on the S6 is a major problem for me. I came from an iPhone 6, and while I prefer Android in many other ways, the s6 is much slower compared to iOS. It's really bumming me out. There's a very noticeable delay in almost everything you do on the S6 -- it's not a super long delay but is very noticeable if you are a super fast smartphone user constantly switching between apps. Every single S6 I have ever tried/used has this issue (I tried a bunch of them at two different Verizon stores, as well as four friends'), so I'm not encouraged by anyone saying otherwise here, I'm afraid...

Many people here recommended trying third party apps for the system UI, but none of the three biggest ones I tried made a single bit of difference with the lag. It's very amateurish-feeling compared to the iPhone and I'm regretting my decision to switch. It's too bad because I prefer Android in pretty much every other way, but I use my phone constantly all day for work and have become dependent on the truly immediate response of iOS. :-( Too much $$$ to switch to an iPhone (two-year contract dealie), so I'm hoping they fix this or I can bring it up to speed.
