Galaxy S7 Issues With WiFi when Bluetooth is on

I have this issue too. Now is this a hardware issue or software?

It happens everywhere I go if WiFi and Bluetooth are both on. It's not just one place. I can't go around place to place re-configuring routers and I especially can't do it at work. However, it's great tip if it's something you have control over.

Just joined to say, Thanks, Matt. Spent a few hours (including a trip to best buy) trying to resolve the wifi issue, but turning off bluetooth fixed it immediately.

To add some additional info to the thread, I tried wifi (with bluetooth on; before I read this thread) at a starbucks and at best buy (using their free wifi), and it worked at both places. Not sure why it would not work at home.... maybe it has something to do with the wireless security we use at home.

Thanks again.

Sounds more like a software issue with vzw variant. Nothing a small patch won't fix. I hope lol.

Having the exact problem with att s7 edge. just to let you know it isn't limited to one carrier. even pairing a device seems to fix the problem also

Having the same problem with a Verizon S7 Edge. Speedtest with BT off was 10 mb/s down. Turned bluetooth on and ran it a second time and it dropped to to 100 kb/s.

I'm on Verizon and unless I want to (try to remember) to switch on BT every time I get in my car, I NEED to keep BT on. So just in case this happens to me (I don't have the S7 yet) as long as I have at least one BT device paired, this will be a non-issue? If that's the case, I don't have anything to worry about cause the phone will have no less than 6 BT enabled devices paired...Jambox, hubby's phone, a recessed light bulb/speaker, car, desktop computer and tablet.

I do believe i found the solution for the wifi connectivity issue, at least its what worked for me. It is related to Bluetooth. By default it appears that "to improve location accuracy" bluetooth scanning is enabled. So when you are not paired with a bluetooth device, it is constantly scanning to "improve location". You can see this by opening up bluetooth (when not paired) and you will see the scanning animation next to the on/off slider. To disable this feature, go to Settings > Location > Improve Accuracy > Bluetooth Scanning : turn it off.

Hope this resolves the issue for others as well.

I have found that while actively paired to a Bluetooth device, it works fine with WiFi. But when not paired still the same issue.

I've had this turned off and it didn't help me with this issue.

Just to clarify..."paired" doesn't meant "connected". I have six devices currently paired. I don't have anything currently CONNECTED. So does there have to be a currently CONNECTED device or just paired?

I got excited when I saw this post. Sadly, this did not work for me. Still getting less then 1mb/s on a fiber line when bluetooth is turned on.

I just wanted to chime in and say I've got this issue on my AT&T S7. So it is definitely not a VZW-only issue.

Does toggling BT do anything? For me when I tested it just toggling BT from on to off to on again let Wifi start working.

For me it works when a device is connected. For instance if I am using my Jambox and Pandora I have no issues.

FYI - response from Samsung support on this issue:

Chat InformationPlease wait for a Samsung Agent to respond.
Chat InformationYou are now chatting with 'Govind G'. The reference number for this chat is 4306114205. There will be a brief survey at the end of our chat to share feedback on my performance today.
Govind G: Hi, thank you for contacting Samsung Technical Support. How may I help you today?
Phil: I'm having a problem with my Galaxy S7 and wifi connections.
Govind G: I'd appreciate it if you could give me a detailed description of the problem to assist you better.
Phil: After reading online it appears many users are having this issue. When Bluetooth is turned on, many times the phone will not be able to get any data downloaded via wifi.
Phil: as soon as bluetooth is turned off, the wifi data starts working.
Phil: I've verified this on multiple wifi access points.
Phil: as have other users.
Govind G: We at technical Live Chat do not have any such reported issues with the issues.
Govind G: I will be glad to assist you with the issues you are facing with the phone.
Govind G: I will need your phone's complete model number to assist you better. You can also find the model number by tapping on Apps>>Settings>>About Device>>Model number.
Phil: it's the G930A
Phil: at&t galaxy s7
Govind G: Thank you for providing the model number.
Govind G: Since when are you facing this issue?
Phil: since forever.
Phil: The phone just came out on Friday...
Govind G: Okay. Please reboot the phone and check if the issue repeats.
Phil: I've already done that.
Phil: I've also already factory reset the phone and cleared the cache. None of those actions has fixed the issue.
Govind G: Please let me know if you have done the reset on the phone and check if the issue persists.
Govind G: Okay, I appreciate all your efforts in troubleshooting the issue.
Govind G: You can contact the place of purchase of the phone and check with the replacement options with them.
Phil: So getting a new phone is the only fix for this issue?
Govind G: You have tried all the possible troubleshooting steps to sort out the issue but it is still persisting. You need to send the phone to the Samsung service center top get it repaired. Since it is a new phone, you can contact the store and check with the replacement option which is the best option for you.
Govind G: However, you can get the phone repaired under warranty with Samsung.

I see Samsung ts is just as helpful as always! They should really bump up their skill level requirements to include 5th graders.
