Frustratingly this location is where 90% of all app menus are accessed. I called my carrier and they provided another device and it has the same issues. Anyone know how to fix this problem?

Welcome to the forums. Have you already checked if the problem persists in safe mode? It's possible that a third party app could be causing a conflict. I remember reading about a similar issue some time ago and the culprit was Facebook Messenger.

I don't have Facebook Messenger...in safe mode you can't access apps. I already tried this. Strange thing it works sometimes. But for the most part there is no response when tapping that portion of the screen. Weirder even is the fact that when i rotate screen to landscape it still doesn't respond.

Welcome to Android Central! Regarding the rotation issue -- are you saying that it's the same physical part of the screen that's unresponsive, or is it still the upper left in relation to whatever orientation the phone is in?

Do you have a case or screen protector on?

I'm not sure if I completely understand what you mean. Does it work sometimes while on safe mode or in general? In safe mode you should be able to use the apps that came preinstalled on your phone and see if there's any difference using that part of the screen. I saw that you also had the screen overlay problem, I guess this problem could be related to that.

As B. Diddy said, it's important to know what happens when you rotate the phone. If the same physical part is unresponsive it could be a hardware problem, if the position changes definitely it's a software issue, most likely a conflict with an app that includes 'draw over other apps' permission.

No screen protector, i have a Rokform case. It does not respond to touch in normal mode.My old phone that i'm sending back, I restored to factory settings and played around with it and now that portion responds.
