Galaxy S8 and Note 7 and S8 Plus side by side

They're missing my favorite features (hdmi connectivity and ir blaster) but as a Netflix watcher those screens look phenomenally attractive. Even the smaller model looks great. At least they apparently kept the led notification light and that is a feature I miss in my lg.

Agree

Nice. I think I'm going for the 8 Plus. I'm coming back into the Samsung fold after a brief stint with Apple and HTC... I just wish Microsoft could make a phone like this. I had the Icon for awhile and I really liked it.

You get HDMI connectivity via USB-C. I don't really care about IR blaster though. What I like is that I can project to my Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter. Something I can't do with my iPhone 6s Plus. Which is nice when I'm traveling and want to watch something other than what the local TV stations have.

Note 7 usb c hdmi connectivity was disabled.

Note7 was a beautiful phone. S8 series is beyond ugly. Samsung dropped the ball on design big time. All industrial elements gone. Even as far as small bezel phones go, the Mi MIX puts this phone to shame design wise. It's just an all-round ugly phone.

That S8+ is damn sexy. Can't wait for Wed and the official announcement. I just hope they don't make us wait too long to have it in our hands...

Width of gs8 plus is rumored 74mm and no one knows anything about note 8 yet

I tried to search for S8 plus specs, not sure why most sites indicate that S8 plus' width is 78.51mm, which is probably wrong looking at the actual side by side pic.

I agree that would make it as wide as iphone 7plus, I also noticed some leaks had it at about 153 mm long and some had it at over 158 mm

I guess we'll only know for sure in Wednesday

I had no issues with the Note 7 size. If the S8+ is what the rumors and leaks are showing, I'm ok with that.

I really dislike the more pronounced curve. Anything intended for flat surfaces (games, reading, web, video, etc) is distorted and makes the space near useless for those applications. Also problematic to protect the device and have a case that does not block the display. The Note 7 was borderline with it's curve and I appreciate a flat display more when went back to my Note 4. Seriously, it is a 6.2" display with about 5.7" actually non-distorted. Bigger footprint and no home button all so Samsung can spec tout. Yeah, you can get apps that use the curve, but I see no advantage over the same apps from a side swipe away. Most curve access apps also require side swiping, so makes the advantage of the curve less apparent overall.

Only reason I would get this is if the display uses RGB pixels instead of Pentile. Then it would be a nice feature for Gear VR (gets rid of screen door). If has Pentile, it will have same screen door issues as the current displays. AMOLED is great for Gear VR, but Pentile pixels are not.

Had a Note 7 so I'm familiar with the size.... The S8 Plus looks similar in size to my old iPhone 6s plus..... With more screen of course. Won't be too much to handle. Still, I think I'll wait until the Note arrives before deciding which one to buy.

Well, if I read the specs right, the Note4 was 78 mm wide and 153.5 mm tall. S8+ going to be 74mm x 159mm. So, narrower but taller.

Slightly wider than the S6.

Not a concern for me at all. Going to have to get used to the new aspect ratios, though.

I was all set to upgrade my Note4 to the S8+, but all this talk about the Note8 has me hesitating now. My thing is up in June (I was a late switch to the Note4), so I will have to get my hands on an s8+ to compare and decide.

Tough decision!

1st world problems, I guess!

Thanks for posting that pic in the first post. I have a Note5(very close in size to the 7) and wanted to know the size difference.

I could jump to s8plus and note 8 (j.o.d.) but unsure of the s8plus. It doesn't seem any wider at all than s7edge. Taller and no wider is not what I was looking like

More like shape of a movie screen?

With s8+ that tall, what is next, Galaxy Note8 XL? :)
