Galaxy S8 or wait for Pixel 2?

I've been a Samsung guy since the S2. I've upgrade each year to the latest Galaxy and currently have the S7 edge.

The S8 sounds like it's going to be an amazing phone based on the leaks thus far. Do I get it, or wait for the Pixel 2? It's the first time since the S2 I've thought about waiting.

All over Android Central is "The Pixel is the Best Phone" available now. I don't believe much has been leaked about the Pixel 2, but I'd hate to get the S8 and then really want the next Pixel. Upgrading twice a year isn't financially feasible.

Any input?

S8 for sure. Waterproofing, Samsung Pay, Bixby AND the option to choose Google Assistant instead. Touchwiz is not bad. PLus the 1000fps video that's coming and bezel-less screen.

If you need a phone now then you want the S8. If you decide to wait to see if the Pixel 2 is better by then the S9 rumor mill will be starting and you'll tell yourself "Pixel 2 or wait for S9"...

Waiting to see if I'm so blown away by the reviews that I can overlook the curved glass. I so hate the "edge" style that I don't know if even a " This is the best phone ever" review gets me past it.

Congrats op, on your decision. Google Assistant, which is available even on S7, is a strange reason to pick pixel over s8. I say this as someone who has long found 32GB to not be enough for my apps and would love to root and uninstall useless stuff like s voice.
For me personally, I'll just be chugging along over here with my S7 (my first Samsung) until 2018, as long as nothing goes wrong.
Maybe they'll actually have the modular phones waterproof to boot or the wear the phone as a wrist gauntlet, but can take off and use flat available . . . Not, they say it moves fast, but it does not really. I might be lucky to be considering a note 9 and a watch (provided they make a dive smart watch by then).
