My S8+ keeps dimming and eventually locking after about 5 seconds no matter what my setting is. It is currently on 2 minutes, I have set it to 5 and even 10 with no luck, my screen simply continues to dim and then lock after no inputs after 5 seconds unless I'm watching a video. Anyboy got any fixes?*

Any power-saving modes turned on? Do you have a case with a flipcover?

Advanced options, second from the top. As long as it detects your face it should stay on.
It's called smart stay.

No I don't have any turned on and no just a d30 case

I tried that but if I put the phone down for a second or not looking at it the screen will dim in 3-5 secs then screen is off. It's not supposed to do that

Is it your screen lock setting that is currently at 2 minutes? What about your Display Screen Timeout - Settings->Display->Screen Timeout? Is that currently set for 15 seconds? When mine is set for that time, it starts to dim around 9 seconds or so then cuts off and locks.

Lockscreen settings is set to immediately lock when I press the lock button or when the screen times out. But my screen timeout settings is set to 2 mins.

You can try to wipe cache, and then you should go for a factory reset.
If it's still a problem after that, it's broken and needs to be repaired.

On a side note, I had Nova launcher installed and uninstalled. Lost the parallax scrolling after that. I only found the issue after uninstalling and reinstalling TouchWiz updates which resulted in the same. Which in turn made me find touchwiz-start and some hidden setting where it was disabled as default launcher. Strange that if you remove such things they don't revert to default.
So it could be some hidden app is causing your issue.

I ended up having to do a Factory reset but I found out it was a bug in doing restores from Samsung cloud because it happened again and when I didn't do it thru the cloud I didn't have that issue anymore
