Can't even believe what just happened. I was literally messaging a friend thru Instagram and phone completely went black. I tried holding the power button and NOTHING. Phone was more or less at 40% while I was using it. What was strange was that my Gear S3 still showed connected as the screen was black. I tried several times to hold the power button and screen remained black. Luckily I have my Note 5 that I was able to insert my simcard into. Any suggestions before I contact AT&T?

Unfortunately, sounds like it could possibly be a doa.

Happened to me before. Hold the power button and bixby button down till it power cycles.

How long have you had the phone I got mine on the 19th and haven't seen that yet hopefully that's an isolated case

That's screen capture. I just tried it.

Holding volume down and power for an extended period of time 30 seconds or more will put the phone into recovery mode I had to do that the day I got it cause it froze and I rebooted it into recovery and has been fine since.

Sometimes it might take over a minute. Be patient. Costs nothing to try but does take a while.

I had the phone only for 6 days. Haven't dropped the phone or got it wet. I immediately contacted AT&T and got a Rep on the line and he advised me this happens when alot of apps are running in the background. I told him none of my Galaxy phones from the Note 4, Note 5, Note 7, and S7 Edge did this. Well he had me hold down the power and volume down button untill phone cycled on which he explained is a soft reset. Voila, i'm back in business. I thought I was either gonna have to go to a local store to swap out or send the phone back.

They of course gave you a BS answer in regards to apps being the issue.

Sounds like this is happening to several people. That wont get any better people. I would take it back and ask for a refund until it can be fixed while your in your 15 day return policy.

This has happened before on my iPhone 6s as well, and my s7. Phone freezes then shut off.

I had the iPhone 3 which would randomly crash and power off randomly. My S7 Edge restarted randomly once, and that was the only time it happened.
