So I was thinking of getting a connected tablet to manage things and finally break a laptop from my dead hands given my work supplies me with one and mostly I just manage little things here and there. T-mobile has the S2 in stock and charges $27.08 a month and I saw a similarly looking Tab A 8. Now I know the S2 is 9.7 inches, but besides the obvious "S2 is newer and has octacore and a gig of RAM more." Is there really that big of a difference beside that? Especially for the casual mobile gamer and for those wanting to just read websites, write up documents, and what not?

I can't really compare the S2 as I just seen it today in person. The Tab A is an okay tablet, lower resolution, camera, specs, etc is on the lower side compared to the S2. On the size, both tablets has two choices, 8 and 9.7. Maybe you can go into a Best Buy and play with both to see which will meet your needs better (the S2 in our area was just getting put out on display today).

T-Mobile store I was in yesterday had just gotten the S2 and one of the reps had already taken one of the stock as his personal tablet. Tab A was already on display. So I got to play with both. My thing was I just didn't get if the S2 was a REALLY BIG deal as for all the lacking, the A 8 was half the price and half the specs, but seemed like it handled most things.

We had the A and for our needs it did the job needed. The S2 does seem to pricey for what you get. Best Buy has a promo going right now that when you trade in a working tablet (nook/kindle excluded) you will get $ 100 credit towards the S2 (not sure if it would apply to LTE models). It really boils down what works for you and your needs.

The A8 display is atrocious. Get the S2.

I didn't get one, ended up having someone give me an iPad Air 2, so who am I to look a gift horse. My sons mother got the S2 when I was there, she didn't like the TAB A, and have to say I agree with 05GT the screen was the killer.

If your trade in is worth it you can get a higher credit. I took my free Tab 4 and I got $125 credit.
$50 gift card and $75 in store. It's a weird breakdown.

Not sure if the tablet (Asus memo 7) I'd trade in is worth more, it would def be a nice little perk to get more than you anticipated :)
