Galaxy watch 4 classic 46 mm

well I'm the original poster I have a Galaxy watch original and today I looked at the Galaxy watch 4 classic... I think I'm going to wait it out another year.

Ok, you guys that make these comments should really help others out by sharing your thoughts and opinions here.

I guess I should elaborate the Galaxy watch original seems sturdy and manly which is what I'm looking for the Galaxy watch for classic seems feminine and just not as attractive.

So you want a watch that can hold you in its strong, hairy arms and make you feel safe?

Understandable.

yes ... and I'm straight white male. I think... It was a joke guys sorry if I offended anyone all I was saying it I like a larger watch. I was excited about the Galaxy watch 4 but after looking at it. It was disappointing

Understandable, and I am a little worried about the new watch being a smaller look on my wrist. Prior to smart watches, I used to have an addiction to wrist watches and loved a large, heavy feeling watch. The last one I bought prior to my first smart watch was a beautiful, bulky Bulova.

After wearing smart watches for the last several years, I find that I can't stand the feel of regular watches anymore. Still love them, just can't stand the heavy feel on my wrist and miss the functionality of a smart watch.

Haha as a straight Indian male I am not offended. That said, I think the 46 mm watch is sufficiently masculine to assuage any fears. My issue here is that I've got small wrists (don't judge lol) so while I want a watch with a large screen, the straps are usually too large, and I end up having to make an extra hole or two. I hope Samsung's smaller watch band is sufficiently small that I don't have to deal with this problem this time.

I also like the bigger profile of the S3 frontier. I went ahead and ordered this to mimic a bigger watch.

It's true the watch 4 classic 46mm is definitely smaller in size than the original Galaxy Watch 46mm (obviously the screen size is the same) I must admit I did think they had sent me the wrong Watch at first lol.
The original Galaxy Watch 46mm is a great device and I'm sure there are alot of people holding on to it. It was a big decision for me but with the trade in price and features of the new watch it would have been rude not to!

I'm loving the new watch and I'm sure most of you guys and gals will too as soon as you receive them.

Glad to hear you're adjusting to the new watch size. I think any of us who are transitioning from the original GW to GW4 are going to feel like it's a reduction in size, but this seems to be the direction Samsung has been heading with design. The GW3 looks to be smaller than the original as well, though I never bought one, I've seen folks wearing them.

The watch 3 is smaller and much sleeker.

I had no compunctions about the look and feel. I did like my Galaxy watch, but it looks and feels like something from the late 70s or early 80s. Especially with that awful stock band.

For anyone concerned about durability or sturdiness though, don't be. I can't speak for the 4 yet, but the 3 is easily as solid as the original.

I had a Gear S3 way back and it was so big it reminded me of a mans watch and after so long I gave it to my husband and got a small Galaxy Watch. I traded it to my hair dresser for services LOL! She loves it! My husband traded in the Gear S3 for the watch 3 bigger one and now he's getting the Classic 46mm. I am getting the 40mm watch 4 non classic cause I love my A2 I have now but I am wondering if I would of liked the 44mm bigger one or not. Too late now just like I ordered silver and now I like the pink gold. I may have thought the 44mm was to big anyway too who knows. I am just excited and can't wait to get the watch. Glad you love it!

I am with you on this, the 22mm bands do look better. The Galaxy watch 4 is slightly thinner around where the band connects to the watch body which does help a bit.
I am pleased that I managed to adapt my 22mm black stainless band to fit the new watch as I really like the look of it.

As you can see in the pic against the original Galaxy Watch 46mm the watch 4 does look less chunky.

I saw someone else do something like that. I have access to an end mill at work so I could, but I think it might still look funny. My watch arrives Friday so I guess I better decide quickly.

The metal strap works well after the adjustments,
I also tried the included band and to be fair I like that also. Most of the silicone/rubber bands that I used on the original Galaxy watch made my wrist itch and I had to take the watch off for a while but with this new band it's been great. It feels different to the other bands I've used.

Putting things back on track here before it runs off the rails completely, I don't think Samsung cares as much about battery life as they want to. They care about what the majority of consumers want. They see the Apple Watch, which gives about a day of battery life, yet it's the best selling smartwatch. That means that consumers like the watch for reasons other than battery life (UI fluidness, slimness, app compatibility, great watch faces, body sensors, etc). And so that's where they are focusing their efforts. Basically, they're a business like any other company. The only way to get then to reverse course on battery life is to stop buying the product and start buying products with longer battery life. That would get their attention.

Well that's the thing... If they've already got twice the battery life of their only(more successful) competitor, why change?

Also, feel free to boycott, but if every person in this forum boycotts, Samsung probably won't even notice the fluctuation in sales.

I can deal with the battery life as long as they don't ditch Wireless PowerShare on their phones. As long as that feature stays, I'm good!

In Apple's case, iPhone users don't have a lot of options. So they can't really vote a product out with their wallets without giving up a lot of functionality or the watch altogether.

Android had enjoyed a lot more options, though perhaps with a lot of various compromises. I don't think a huge battery would work for most watched. Not without sacrificing a lot of fictionally and/or performance, or making the watch rather large. As long as it lasts me a day I'm good. I traded my GS3 Classic for the GW3 as battery life was getting pretty low. My Frontier is also starting to die sooner so I traded it in. I was using the Frontier for work and the Classic for going out. With the GW3, I'm going to sell the GW3 and consolidate down to one watch. As long as it gets me through the day, I'm fine. And I generally only where my watches outside the house so I usually don't need a full day of battery.
