Thank you so much! This was the only thing that worked. And it worked great!

This allows you to use the app as a gallery, but photos are still not visible in the camera's gallery. Has anyone found a way to make that happen? Thanks.

I tried everything listed above and more. Only fix that I found was opening my camera and taking a couple pictures. Then move all your old pictures into the newly created folder on your SD card. You should get a notification about the SD when you do snap a picture. Easier than I thought too, felt dumb after I figured it out. NOTE 3.

My Samsung S 6 Edge has done this twice. The first time I went searching through files and found and deleted 6 .nomedia files. Where the.nomedia files came from I still have no idea. One week ago I opened Gallery to email some photos and all photos are gone from my Gallery, searching files I found all photos
Only different this time some in SD others in external, I searched through all files and can not find any .nomedia file like I thought I would. A week of doing everything listed trying to get my photos back in to my Gallery has not changed anything. Clearing out every application that I thought could have a problem also my anti virus and malwarebites I've tried every reset that I have read to try. I still have all my pictures but it's a real pain when I have to search through files to find the pictures my customer wants for there records.
BTW, I have a car restoration shop,we do complete restoration and take pictures of before the restoration, during and completed. People love having the photos to show. Enough of what I do.
Anyway I'm still looking for and open to trying almost anything to get my pictures back in Gallery and organized. Thanks

Hello All,

I've searched high and low and cannot find a solution to this problem. The other day I wiped my phone for various reasons. Ever since I did the wipe the gallery does not display any of the images that are already stored on the device. If I take a new picture it will go right into the /sdcard/DCIM/Camera directory and it will display in the gallery. Same thing happens if I download a picture it will go into /sdcard/Download and will display in the gallery.

However, any of the images that are already in any of the folders on my sdcard do not show up in the gallery. Is there a way to force the gallery to scan the sdcard or something? Thanks in advance.

I'm facing the same problem. Please assist with a solution.

Go to Settings- storage and clear all *cached data as well as *misc data and delete..remember to select all in *misc data and delete..it won't delete anything important .it worked for me. hope it works for u ..no need for third party app.

Consider any of the solution mentioned below.

Solution 1

Note: Follow the steps for both Internal and external SD Card

1
Go to File manager -> Android -> Data -> com.android.gallery3d.
Delete the folder (com.android.gallery3d) in both internal and external SD card.
2
Go to Settings -> Apps / Application manager -> search for Gallery -> open Gallery and tap on Clear Data .
3
Switch off your phone and wait for few minutes (say 2-3 min) and then switch on and wait for few minutes.

Well actually don't delete anything. Simply go to settings> storage>preferred install location>let the system decide. Worked for me on android jellybean. Afterwards you may change it back to SD card or phone without the fear of the Same problem. Let me know if it worked out for you!

Hi,

Just wanted to let you know which if the options here worked for me.

I cleared data from Media Storage. This alone didn't worked.
Afterwards I cleared data from Gallery. It worked!! (Both for Gallery and Google Photos)

The order is important: clearing first Gallery data didn't worked for me.

I have a Moto E 2nd gen, Android 6.0. I am using a sandisk class 10 sd as internal memory.

Thanks all of you for your help!
