Gave the Pixel a shot. Sending it back and getting the LG V20

May ask why are you switching from the Samsung Galaxy Edge 7 if it did everything you wanted it to do?

I'm not switching. I'm a tech junkie. I carry my S7 edge on Verizon, and a nexus 5x on fi. So the Pixel will be replacing the 5x. I wanted to give project fi a shot. I'm liking it a lot. I've had no connection issues, and speed is right up there with verizon. I'm slowly weaning my 5 lines away from Verizon. After 24 years of loyalty, I've been getting nickled & dimed to death with them sneaking in fees and increasing line costs, while telling me I'm going to be paying less. So I took 1 line which was costing me 40.00 for the line, plus sharing 10 gb of data. So figure about 50.00-60.00 a month for the line. When I put that line on fi, my bill has never been over 35.00 month TOTAL WITH TAX. Keep in mind that you can also use any gsm phone, or any unlocked phone on fi. But it won't switch between the 3 carriers, it'll only stay on T-mobile. I also received a data only sim card for my tablet. No extra charge. It connects to your main account so you only pay for data you use. And if you download Google hangouts dailer, you can evrn make calls from your table(or another phone), and you'll only pay for data. Try that with verizon.

Wow, that's impressive. Maybe I should look into that.

Keep in mind, that if you use a lot of data, this may not be for you. If you're on WiFi most of the time, it's definitely worth investigating. You pay 20.00 month for unlimited Talk & text, and 10.00 per gig. Now, with gigs, you only pay for what you use. In other words, let's say you used only half a gig for the month, you would receive a 5.00 credit on your next bill. Or if you go over your gig plan by half a gig, you'd only get charged 5.00 more. You choose how many gigs you want. I looked at my Verizon bill and the line I moved over only averaged about 3/4 of a gig monthly, so I chose 1 gig and have never gone over it. Do your research on line. There are many articles that will further explain the details of the plan.

I've had the Pixel XL since 10/19. Generally speaking I like the phone. Just a few issues that I can't justify paying almost $900 and keeping it.

I had the Nexus 6 and loved it. Since then I've had the LG G4, LG V10, Lg G5 and S7 Edge. With the Nexus 6 being my favorite of those.

GPS dropping signal while driving, Project Fi wasn't going to work for me as I intended, issue with google now. Kept thinking I was saying "Ok Google" while I was listening to music through headphones or through the radio. So it kept saying "If you just said something I didn't catch it." I also don't like the headphone jack on the opposite end of the charging slot.

I tried a couple of factory resets to no avail. Including resetting the phone and not backing up from google account in case that may have been the issue.

There are a few other issues that are enough to send it back. I'll edit as I recall what they were.

I will say that one thing I didn't like about LG that may still be an issue is when you're on a call you get that floating icon that you can't remove from the screen. It always seemed to be in the way when I was on a call and trying to do something on screen.

Just an idea on the okay google issue, you could try and make sure it is set to use the bluetooth device for audio when one is connected. Just a thought.

As for the v20, the floating call icon you mention is not there. However, if the phone is on, you need to slide your finger to accept or deny the call on the second screen which I was not a huge fan of. I also did not like the fact that the phone can only be turned off using the rear fingerprint sensor, it would have been nice to have a power button on one side of the phone. Also, the fingerprint sensor requires zero effort to initiate, I was unlocking the phone not meaning to. The Pixel's fps is just as fast, but it requires a more deliberate press to initiate. YMMV. The v20 is also a monster phone, I love big phones and can palm a basketball, but even for me it is pushing the size limit. My only other qualm was that the blue light filter could not be set to a schedule, it needed to be manually toggled which was annoying.

Otherwise, battery life was unexpectedly awesome on the v20, and the display is just as good as the pixels and s7/note7 Samsungs.

It is a very good device.

Before I got the Pixel, I got a Nexus 5x and joined Fi - I had some calling issues on Fi and only kept it and the 5x for a few days. Google Fi has awesome customer service - cancelled my account w/o any hassles and credited me for the 5x instantly. I may give Fi another shot somewhere down the road.
As far as performance of the network, it may depend somewhat on your location. As far as Project Fi customer service - I give them a 100% satisfied rating.

We may not understand or agree, but we should always respect someone's personal choice.

Sometimes things are just not meant to be. The V20 is a superb device as well. The GPS could have been a carrier issue and not a device issue but you were obviously meant to own the V20. hopefully it works flawlessly this time :)

LOL... you say "this is such a lie" because you can't find any other reports on this... do you know how to use Google Search?

If not I'll tell you: Open up your favorite browser, and type "www.google.com" in the address bar, then in that search box in the middle of the google's page type "lg v20 bootloop" and hit enter.
Just used google search and its still a lie lol..maybe you were thinking of the v10...I should be teaching you how to google and you have the Google flagship phone which is a shame....

I had a V10 but it was a serious battery hog and you could tell it was going to be one just paste on the fact that they gave away a free extra battery and charger at launch. I looked at the v20 what two things concern me number one support for updates and patches and 2 battery life. At least I know with the pixel XL Google will be supporting with security patches and updates for a while where is you don't see as many updates with other phone manufacturers

Keep the pixel and get cricket. Sounds like Fi just isn't for you in your area.

Good for you mate, at least you had tried it, how I wish I could I could tried it too, nevertheless wish you luck on your V20. 😎

We've has 4 returned V20s in 2 days for bootlooping. Hopefully, This isn't a serious issue...

LG cannot seem to solve that. And I don't really trust their manufacturing, the build often has problems. It's why I decided on the Pixel instead of the V20.

Well you gave it a shot, that's what counts. If the V20 doesn't work out, maybe try the Dtek 60...I said maybe.

Honestly the OK google thing is an Android issue not a pixel one. Happens to me on other phones too.

For the most part it has been positive reviews over in the CB forums. The antenna has been getting good reviews.

I have the V20 also and it's a solid device. Not as smooth as the Pixel but still pretty solid. A lot smoother than the Note 7 and Galaxy S7 Edge. I'm sure Nougat has something to do with that.
