Gear S2 - Battery Drains in 5 hours

It is a bit complicated, you need to have sdb installed (it is included in samsung developer tools like gwd) and use it with debug option on in smartwatch

So I think I figured out my issue. Every time I run, Gear S2 turns location on with GPS+Wireless, and when I'm done it stays on. Today I turned location off, started a manual run (instead of using the widget), and the watch asked if I wanted to use location services. This time I pressed "x" for no. Then I went back to the widget, started a run, stopped it, and noticed that location was still off. I'll test it tomorrow with a real run, but when I turn location off my battery lasts much longer.

My gear is crashing out in 2 hrs and Bestbuy and Samsung are being useless. Please walk us through this. I'd love to see those logs esp since I don't see where you can control contact syncs.

Has anyone resolved this issue yet ? I also have the same issue.... Gear S2 used to last for 2 days now I'm lucky if it lasts for 5 hours.
I have tried basically everything, Light Reset, Factory Reset, Deleting all the apps off the Samsung Gear App, reinstalling the Samsung Gear App,
turning off Wi-Fi, NFC and leaving Bluetooth on battery still drains.

I worked out that if I turn off Bluetooth then the battery lasts for 2days again but what is the point of having a smart watch if you cant get simple Bluetooth notifications? it seems that the Bluetooth constant connectivity is causing the battery drain not sure if its the new firmware but this never used to happen. It must be doing some sort of sync in the background over Bluetooth, but its definitely the Bluetooth connectivity which is causing it.

Try switching off Bluetooth for one day and you will see how long the battery lasts.

There are several app settings in your wearable that will influence battery drain, connections (BT, WiFi, NFC, etc), display (Always On !! don't use it, brightness), monitors (HR, etc). You'll need to go into the settings and walk around the areas and google out the settings to figure out your unique combinations of need.

Yes BT will put a drain on your device but not as much as other settings do.

The device while capable of doing a lot of things isn't designed to do all of those things all of the time and our social culture often demands things technology has yet to catch up on. So yes they've been around a while but these things aren't replace-ables for smartphones (yet).

I have down loaded 6 additional professional watch faces to wear my device primarily as a watch, with added features. I have a 3g phone version (connected to a Galaxy Note 4), and I get 20+ text messages a day, 3-10 phone calls and emails (notifications of these things too). I have a map application and the s-health app (which I am hoping to replace my Fitbit charge with) when sleep tracking finally catches up. My device currently lasts 40 hrs before it goes back in to the charger with 15-20% charge remaining.

BTW, the first 2 days I had the wearable (S2 classic) it didn't last more than 4-5 hrs but it had everything turned on and connecting as often as it could.

After having my watch for 8 months, my battery began to die after barely one day. No changes to anything. It went on for two months. By accident, I let my battery die completely, put it on the charger and let it recharge to 100% before turning it back on. Now, it's acting normal again. It's only been one day but my battery is back to lasting like it did when it was new. So this discharge/recharge with the watch turned off may have reset the battery. I know there is a correct term for this because I have heard of this method before, but I forget. So give that a try. I hope it fixes your battery life. I was going to upgrade to the gear s3 simply for battery life and that would be a complete waste of money.

Mine did the exact same thing this week... after 2 days of dealing with it, I backed it up and did a factory reset then restored. Didn't take long and problem was solved.

Three times since July I've sent my Gear S2 to Samsung for not holding charge.
Got GearS2 in March and it was fine at first. Beginning in July, battery drain. Sent it into Samsung. Had to wait, since batteries were on back order. S2 returned and working fine for 1 month. Not holding charge. Sent again in September, returned, working fine. Comes October, battery not holding charge. Sent in a THIRD time to Samsung, but they are back ordered on batteries. 3 TIMES SENT IN FOR NOT HOLDING CHARGE SINCE JULY. WHAT GIVES! Did ok from March to July.

Now husband's Gear S2 doing the same thing.

The main process using the battery, I had contacts (90%), and seems to understand who I was to blame. Namely, the phone functionality is "Caller ID and spam" (Nexus), I turn it off, restarted the clock, and now is all fell into place. I'll see how things will go on.

Those who have problems with a quick discharge, see who eats battery (Samsung Gear app -> Settings -> information about the gear -> Statistics)

Vlad from Ukraine.

Where do you go to find the log? I dont last from 7am to noon and just today am trying to turn off wifi. I also use number sync so I dont even have bluetooth on. I only want it so when I'm away from my phone I still get calls and text.

One more thing - if you go into the S-voice app, touch the question mark, then the 3 dot menu icon, make sure "Voice wake-up" is off. I recently saw my watch trying to transcribe some text at a dinner party, and apparently that defaults to "on" which means it's listening all the time.

Hi,

My Gear S2 has been doing exactly the same thing since the last update. As soon as I notice the battery is draining too fast, I do a factory reset and a restore then the problem is fixed for 1 to 2 weeks. Restore works fairly well so at least there is a 3 minute fix to get back the 1.5 day battery life I usually get. I really like the watch other than this glitch.

Hope they fix it soon.

Gear S2 Battery Life

Wondering if anyone else is getting horrible battery/charge time experience with the S2?? I typically leave home at 6:30am and pull it from the charger at 100% then. By the time I get home at 6pm it is dead. WTF good is a watch that doesn't last all day?

Anyone else have this experience?

Re: Gear S2 Battery Life

When looking under Forums, I only found Samsung Gear S2. When I opened it, there were no topics. Is there another Forum?

I had to basically turn everything off. I am not a big fan of this watch. I love that it syncs with S Health, but I am almost willing to give up S Health and the extra phone number for an android wear watch or even the Gear Fit 2 that I got with my Note 7.
