gear S2 from at&t without sim and just on wifi?

So i was thinking about getting a samsung gear s 2 from swappa, and it seems the cheaper prices ones are the carrier ones. Is there a negative to buying one of these? are these locked and wont be run until a proper sim is put in? Can i use it just with Bluetooth / wifi with my phone?

When you restart it you'll get a message to activate cell service and you can just ignore that, then it should work like normal with blutooth and wifi (you'll have to repeat this every time you restart.) Just make sure you turn off the 3G option in the settings so it doesn't drain your battery looking for a cell signal.

The SIM is built in and non-removable. It's pretty cheap on my AT&T unlimited plan. $10.00 per month and I didn't get an activation fee. The watch does get its own phone number but you can also setup Number sync where your phone's number is what will be used on the watch (even when calling your cell number will show on the people you calls phone). This works even if you don't have your cell phone with you.
