Gear VR Promotion Success/Failure Thread: please post whether you are successful ...

I just tried to call Prize Logic since it's getting to the end of the 9th week since my approval email. I got a message saying all circuits are busy. Have they just stopped taking phone calls now?

I tried calling them 20+ times last week, and most of the time I was the 30th, or 40th, even 50th caller in line. I think at some point literally "all circuits are busy". I did get through on Saturday however (only 11th in line!) and talked to a rep. She said that we should receive our promo items soon. I asked if she meant this year yet and she laughed. "Should be by the end of June" she said. Hopefully true because Verizon has turned a blind eye at this point, and Samsung is a joke of a company when it comes to customer care.

I just got through to them. I called a few weeks ago and was told to wait until after 8 weeks and they'd escalate it to Tier II. When I asked the lady on the phone about that she said there was no such thing, and all I can do is wait. I have never had a company treat me like this. They make up a different lie every time I call.

It's sad that in the end Samsung is going to have some glamorous glorious explanation to the public and they will think that by all they will be forgiven? I have a long memory and thus shoddy deal their pulling will not be forgotten by me, ever!

Here is the Tier II response to save you the trouble... ;)

I wonder if the "gurus" actually read my letters to them at prize or sam out wherever the messages go? Each time I try to make my question a little more humorous. They probably don't even have a sense of humor. I bet they are going to send me to back of the line!!!

Submitted 3/11, Approved 3/25, Approval Email 4/7. Still nothing in FDM. 5/10= Date PL Rep told me my S2 was to be shipped (then admitted it wasn't possible to give a date). 5/19=First date PL told Verizon I would receive my S2. Verizon noted it on my account, then tried to say it was unclear. 6/6=2nd date that PL told Verizon I would have my Gear S2 (this was after the 'confusion' of the 1st date). Not only are they consistently lying to me, they appear to be lying to one another. LOL

Background: Was supposed to get a S2 and received a $200 eCert and VR instead.

Update: Received an email with a return label to ship the VR back to them and get my S2. I'm going to ship it out by today.

Anybody else?? I seriously hope they make it right this time.

Did you notify them that you got 2 VR and then they sent a return label?

Well, after months of phone calls, emails, Facebook messages and flat out lies, I have finally got my watch shipped. I had to call Verizon and they charged me for it (totalling 318.97 ..I think it was) and she said they would have to charge me the full fee for the watch, and they would credit it to my account, which they did. She said I would also have to activate it with them, which I had planned on anyway. It should be here within 2 days. It shipped UPS. It already has a phone number and everything. Can't wait to get it. This has been one big headache.

I am astounded every time this happens! It gives me hope for every time I try.

I like for this to happen to but I'd hate to have to connect them. I just don't need thst functionality.

I'd be fine with that resolution. That's the whole reason I WANTED the dang watch. That way I wouldn't have to always have my phone on me. After reading everyone's experiences, I just don't think I have the patience to sit on the phone trying to get that done though... lol

Want to hear something very funny. I wake up to an email from a Verizon Supervisor who is supposedly on my side and going to follow this through until I get my watches. She has been following this through for a month and wont send me watches from Verizon but that is another story. So she emails me last night at 11:30 pm (we are on different time zones) asking me if I received my watches because her team sent her a tracking number and said they were shipped out on Thursday. I reply no I di not receive them and have nothing in Fed Ex Management or in my status. Please send me the tracking number. But then I decide to call Fed Ex direct and they tell me that there is nothing created to ship to my address.

Her is my issue first of all how did her team get a tracking number without me giving permission to them to talk to anyone? And if she has a tracking number and is a Level 2 Supervisor as I am told isnt she smart enough to track it before contacting me and getting my hopes up? These are the games they keep playing with me. BTW submitted 3/11 and finall approval 4/6.

That tracking number that your level 2 Verizon supervisor has is probably the confirmation number that Samsung/Prizelogic uses.

Remember that Verizon reps are generally idiots.

So I call Prize Logic just to see why I did not get any email if they escalated it last week like they said. The girl on the phone tells me the S2 watches are back ordered and I have to wait. I tell her I have been waiting a long time and they only seem to be backordered for those of us who submitted between 3/9 - 3/11. Also if they are so back ordered why do people that I am in contact with still receiving them every week. She tries to tell me it is not from this promo, I tell her it is from this promo. I ask her to have a supervisor follow up as to why they said it was going to be escalated and it hasnt been and she tells me they no longer escalate or write up tickets for this promotion, basically it comes when it comes. We are screwed!!!

So I sent them an email and got a reply 10 minutes later!

Super helpful, I know! Right?! So, I responded-
That doesn't answer why some people are having to wait months while others are not. If it were just a demand issue then EVERYONE would be waiting similar times. That's not happening though. Some people have gotten theirs within 4-6wks of submitting and others have waited 12+ wks and are still waiting. In most cases the people in the 2nd group submitted weeks before the people in the first group (which directly conflicts with the Terms and Conditions you suggested referencing btw). Those of us still waiting after 3 months are very aware of the terms and conditions, as well we are all aware that they aren't being met on PrizeLogic/Samsung's end. The canned replies don't help the situation either, it just makes the situation that much more aggravating.

Good job, couldnt have said it better :)

So, I posted another response on the Prize Logic website asking what was going on. I almost immediately received a phone call from their social media person. He told me that the original promotion was for 300,000 VR headsets and around 35,000 watches. Supposedly they had those queued up and ready to fulfill the orders. When Samsung opened the promotion back up, nobody had the stock to cover the second set of orders. He said Samsung is currently trying to manufacture the products and get them delivered to the shipping company so that they can be shipped out, but they won't give an approximate time frame. He also said that the original S7 promotion will be fulfilled before the new father's day promotion that they are running now.

When I asked why they weren't shipping the items in the order of the registrations he placed the blame squarely on the shipping company. He said that all they can do is recommend that the items be shipped in the order of the submissions, but it's up to the shipping company to comply with that, or not.

So, it seems to me that the biggest culprit is the shipping company, they really screwed this up for the early submitters. Prize Logic could have helped themselves out just by being a little more forthcoming with the reasons behind the delay. But, I did appreciate the fact that he picked up the phone and called me to try to explain it in person.

Ah well so that’s a little bit of newish information. (If you believe it)

I don’t

He told me that the original promotion was for 300,000 VR headsets and around 35,000 watches. Supposedly they had those queued up and ready to fulfill the orders. When Samsung opened the promotion back up, nobody had the stock to cover the second set of orders.

the second set of orders If there was a build up of watches at Brightpoint then the second set of orders where filled, NOT the first set. (top of the pile theory)

I kinda remember that happening, if someone wants they can look back at the history of this thread and find the day that the promotion would not allow for selection of the s2 in the forms. Then the next day it was back.

He said that all they can do is recommend that the items be shipped in the order of the submissions, but it's up to the shipping company to comply with that, or not.

This forum has figured this out all by its self. Brightpoint has always been the problem but they are insulated from the public. Prizelogic should be able to tell Brightpoint to do better but they can’t or wont, and Prizelogic/Verizon/Samsung should be able to use their weight to Brightpoint to do better but wont do that either.

Everyone we can talk to is also isolated from Brightpoint, that deal is done higher up on the org chart.

Even if we could get to Brightpoint. They could really tell us to F off we as the end user is not their customer and they know it.

So we lean on Samsung/Verizon/Prizelogic because we are their customers. Their subcontractor messed up and they need to take responsibility.
