It's pretty clear from reading these forums that many (most?) people were given Unlimited by CSR's who realized it was changing their data plan and there was no deception involved. I don't know if this whole thing is really something VZW is behind to sell more MHS (like the pseudo-shortages of certain toys before Christmas) or just something they don't really care about. But a software change that popped up a window telling a CSR that this person is not eligible for this feature, or one that reverted the Unlimited if the MHS was removed, is all it would take to stop it.
I've yet to read anything official from VZW saying they want to stop this or calling it a loophole/hack, has anyone else? I haven't spent time studying it, but it just seems like aside from some blogger or two, this has been a non-issue.
If at this point VZW did try to audit and remove this from people who were legitimately given it (where does it say this is only for grandfathered people?), I would think they'd have a massive PR problem and perhaps a class action suit. It says on their site you must have unlimited, but it doesn't say this is for grandfathered unlimited. So if you call, ask for it, and they make you unlimited so you can get it, where's the reasoning or precedent to call that deception and remove it?
Maybe I'm missing the obvious.
