Get unlimited data on ungrandfathered lines!

Now I can't wait for the unlimited data to be removed for those of you who did this!

I wonder why not one person on any of the forums is reporting as having this happen? Only one blog post. Matter of fact people are still getting it added as of yesterday.

There are other threads and I also had luck getting unlimited added a month ago using the same method.

Just called verizon and it worked like a charm (felt too easy) the lady was great she definitely was aware I was getting switched to an unlimited plan. Feels to good to be true. I guess only time will tell.

For those that had this go through for 2 billing cycles (months idk), did you guys remove MHS within couple hours?days? weeks? I got it but I removed it right away and I heard that VZW can audit those that removed it right away so I actually added MHS feature online again. How long should i keep mhs until i remove it?

PS....I was actually able to add the MHS back online bc I got the unlimited data through the loophole

I did it about 2 weeks ago on 2 lines. Got my first bill and it is showing unlimited data on both lines. No call from any "audit team," which I think is a hoax.

Only 1 billing cycle here, but no problems so far and I removed it right away.

I'm closing out my 2nd cycle in 4 days and it's still showing unlimited. Thing is... I never had hotspot added to the account. When I called for the loophole, the rep on the phone said the hotspot was unavailable and offered to change my lines to the unlimited data for $29.99. So I don't know how they are scoping their audit when it comes to that...

It's pretty clear from reading these forums that many (most?) people were given Unlimited by CSR's who realized it was changing their data plan and there was no deception involved. I don't know if this whole thing is really something VZW is behind to sell more MHS (like the pseudo-shortages of certain toys before Christmas) or just something they don't really care about. But a software change that popped up a window telling a CSR that this person is not eligible for this feature, or one that reverted the Unlimited if the MHS was removed, is all it would take to stop it.

I've yet to read anything official from VZW saying they want to stop this or calling it a loophole/hack, has anyone else? I haven't spent time studying it, but it just seems like aside from some blogger or two, this has been a non-issue.

If at this point VZW did try to audit and remove this from people who were legitimately given it (where does it say this is only for grandfathered people?), I would think they'd have a massive PR problem and perhaps a class action suit. It says on their site you must have unlimited, but it doesn't say this is for grandfathered unlimited. So if you call, ask for it, and they make you unlimited so you can get it, where's the reasoning or precedent to call that deception and remove it?

Maybe I'm missing the obvious.

anyone also remove it within maybe a couple min after talking to CR and have gone through multiple billing cycles? Mine's been a day now so I'm thinking about removing it although the feature is tempting to keep -___-

At this point, I'm not gonna worry over it. We [the public] don't know what variables are being taken into account for the audit nor when or if the auditing will occur... nor duration in which the audit will take place. You could keep the MHS on your account 1 day, 1 week, 1 month... they could start auditing the day after you remove it. It's a toss up. Unless someone can shed more insight via first hand knowledge or updated rumor... as of now, there's not much to go on other than a blog that has claimed auditing will begin...

However I do find it strange that, if Verizon has "caught on", people are still able to get this added to their account currently as seen from a poster above. If this is a loophole you want shutdown ASAP, wouldn't you advise your CSRs via internal memo to cease adding this feature change immediately? Or disable the feature code in the system all together? When I was a CSR for T-Mobile, if a feature or plan was no longer offered, we couldn't even add the code to the account...

If you read through this thread and the other similiar thread on another forum you will see that the answer to that question is yes. This has been going on since July. All of the talk of an "audit team" is just a hoax meant to scare people.

They wouldn't change the people who have it, they can only prevent it from happening. Because even though the people who did it knew it was a fluke in the system, they would still feel entitled to keep it and they would cause an uproar that they just wouldn't want to deal with. Especially if most of the changes were done by reps.

All of the changes were done by reps, it can't be done online. So they would be contractually obligated to continue it.

When the thread was first made, i tried it, got accepted first try and removed it instantly. Two.cycles in still have it. BUT i decided to keep the feature so i just readded it back.

2 billing cycles already and I still have it on 2 of my lines that I added it on. Added early November and removed it within 5 minutes after getting off the phone.

Just being the devil's advocate here, when people upgraded or got the unlimited data, wouldn't that be considered breaking the contract? Bc in order to change the contract, I would think you would have to resign the contract bc the stipulations have now changed. Also lets say if what you say is true, would you need the 1st billing cycle to be over so that you can provide evidence that you had unlimited? or as long as you had it in your account once i wonder...

I see you are not an attorney, although by your own admission, you are a devil :D

No, it is not considered breaking the contract. It is considered making an offer to modify the contract and then having the other party to the contract agree to the modification.

Breaking the contract is when you refuse to pay what you owe or otherwise fail to perform your obligations under the contract.

Here is what happened with me - I made an offer to modify my contract when I called VZW and asked for the MHS feature to be added. 2 different agents of VZW refused the modification. The 3rd agent agreed to it. Doesn't matter that 2 refused it, only matters that one agreed to it. Contract sealed.

I have 5 lines on Verizon, 2 were grandfathered in, 2 are regular phones, the fifth line I added on the 7th to get my brother a smart-phone. I had to settle for 2gigs for 30 bucks. Until today. I added the hotspot feature to that new line and was super surprised to find out that by adding it I now have unlimited data on that line. According to the rep the unlimited data will stay on that line even if I choose to remove the hotspot. Let me know if that works for anyone else.

Good thing you got it before they fix it. So those people out there in cellphone land with VZW better get on it. I'm saying this cause I have a good source. So hurry!
