Android Central Question

For about the last week, every time I shut down the screen or it goes to sleep a notification sound plays. This is very annoying, what can I do

All the sounds are turned off except the dial pad and touch sounds.... still happening.
I found this old thread. Worth trying the possible solutions included there.

- Turn location off and check any weather app/widget that you have installed.

- Turn NFC off.

- Try safe mode.

And a funny one, turn 'lock screen sounds' ON and see if you get two different sounds when locking.

changing the location to gps only didn't help. The only weather app I have is what is in the android OS. NFC was already off (as was Bluetooth). In the safe mode, the sound stops. Now how do I figure what app is the problem?

That's not an easy task. Try to remember which apps you downloaded or were updated recently.

There's a slim chance that the sound left an entry in the notification log. See if this works, long press an empty spot on your home screen - Widgets - scroll down until you find Settings 1x1 - long press and drag it to the screen - select Notification log from that list. This creates a widget, now lock your phone, unlock, tap that widget and see if there's an entry for that locking sound. It's a long shot, though.
