that is a great photo focus and colors are awesome.
Yeah..........I'm a chronic switcher lol
A camera update that changes the way pictures look has to be an OTA. Qualcomm and Sony write shared objects (think of them as drivers) for the Linux kernel that controls the hardware features and functions. Those are what turns points of light into an actual photo.
Updates that do things like fix shutter timing or affect/add features like camera modes or settings are done in the app update.
I would actually argue that for some people, the iPhone SE is still the one device for everything. For some, it isn't, but for me, it's a solid experience and the main camera is good in its own right so a point and shoot would be a downgrade. Had no problem reading on it, in fact, one of my favorite things to do is to eat with one hand and hold and read with the other. That phone makes it so easy to make that happen.
I don't think one's intelligence is an issue when it comes to how they choose to spend their play money. Not to mention, I always have the option to sell or return a device once I make a decision. I have owned many HTC devices and many of them have had similar issues to the HTC 10. I had the m7,m8, EVO 4g, EVO 3d, and the EVO 4g LTE. Don't call me a hater. It should be obvious that i want HTC to succeed, but because I've bought so many versions of these phones, I also get to give my opinion without being considered a troll or hater. In fact, I would be very qualified to give an honest opinion as my bias is obviously toward HTC rather than against. And, as it stands without the camera update, this camera is garbage and there's no way HTC should have let it hit stores with these issues. They keep shooting themselves in the foot. Are they stupid or what? See these pics attached. The one that has blown highlights and lack of detail is taken with a device that's 8 months newer than my Nexus 6p. WTF!? So, I hope Google does not give HTC the keys to camera software engineering on their next version of the Nexus. Please Google noooooo! Let HTC handle audio, but please restrict then from having any camera software input. They're clueless in a market where everyone that matters are making damn good cameras.

Honestly, I'd assume any phone camera would blow out a hightlight like that. My DSLR would blow out that highlight, especially if I metered on the dark mat. A tiny sensor like a phone camera has cannot handle that much dynamic range--not without computational magic. You'd need in camera HDR, and aggressive HDR at that, to handle the extremes you see here.

Is the screen really that bad with sunglasses? Even with auto brightness turned on, while outdoors? It really isn't a deal breaker for me personally as I dont wear those kind of sunglasses.Yeah. It's really a shame but the polarization kills it for me. I use my phone while I drive for navigation and music (shhhhh! I'm careful) and it's really annoying to have to take my sunglasses off every single time or to see when I need to make a turn. :/
