I rooted and flashed Cyanogen Mod7 2.3.3 Gingerbread onto my Inspire over the weekend. However I decided I want to go back to plain stock. I know I can just flash the Stock ROM back which I have and isn't and issue, however I want to put it all back together which means turning S-OFF back to S-On.

I followed every single possible senario outlined over at XDA to enable it, however I can't for the life of me get it to work, bubby's tool fails actually, the only thing I did was go command line and adb shell into the inspire I ran the commands and I didn't get errors at all and it looks like it should have taken, however upon rebooting the bootloader I find that S-OFF is still there and it is not on S-On.

I know I can go to stock and leave that on and it wont hurt anything. It's just buggine me more now than anything as to why it's not working.

Its possible you might want to try to re-root it and try again.

They don't leave very good instructions, not even videos, on how to property do all these things you know.

Good luck man.

I got another question, if I DO NOT turn S-On back on (seeing as I can't since nothing seems to enable it), and go back to stock, will I be able to use the Super One click tool, to easily root, then use the option in that tool for "allow Marketplace apps" then use it again to Unroot?

I can accept just staying on S-off if that will work. (I still want my Amazon App marketplace and dont wanna wait for ATT to get off their fat arses to decide what to do to allow it)

Sure can. I've done it. I messed up rooting once and was left on the downgraded ROM. I ran the RUU and put it back to stock except for S-Off. Went back and rooted.

S-On

I just unrooted my Evo so I can take it back to Sprint. I flashed the Unrevoked Forever S-On tool to switch it back. Took all of 2 minutes to do and worked like a charm!

I don't see instructions for the S-On tool anywhere... Duh I was looking right at it on UnrEVOked but recovery mode goes to black screen with red triangle exclamation mark...

Just installed ruu 3.70.65..... working fine but wanna try the gingerbread update but its not installing so i was assuming S-On was the problem
