Gingerbread coming to my touch 4g? Since evo is getting it

When is gingerbread coming to my touch 4g? Evo got it.. T mobile better step it up

I was going to make a new thread for this but decided to add it here since it was relative....

I was just looking through the thread about the EVO's changes from updating to GB.... And it sounds like most of the changes are things our MT4G's already do (pocket mode, flip phone over, etc) and very very minimal visual changes.... This has me wondering what sort of changes will be brought when the MT4G gets GB... I've been anticipating GB since it was announced but if nothing really changes then what's the point? Forgive my ignorance if I am missing something here, I am just thinking that maybe we MT4G users won't have much to look forward to until ICS... [Where I will surely be picking up a new phone (or have one) by then anyways. lol.] Anyone else feel this way?

GB will have under the hood changes, with some visual changes. Performance should improve a little, too.

And T-Mobile has some time...remember that the EVO came out well before the myTouch 4G.

I agree. When I saw EVO's update I thought the same thing as you did. For MT4G we have to wait until the MT4G Slide is released or maybe close to the release date. I think the update will happen similar to what Samsung did with Vibrant update. It came out almost a couple of days before Vibrant 4G was released.

Well...in Canada you can buy the HTC Glacier (our dear myTouch 4G) with Gingerbread installed. The update it's ready, T-Mobile's update timeline sucks. Here is the link to back up my comment.

I know we all have the right to our opinion and mine is that I think we got it pretty darn good with CM7. I get great performance and battery life!! I love it! I would like to see more things like Skype finally make video chat possible and netflix open up to us MT4G users!! When I meet people who use android and havent rootes or have custom roms, they are blown away at how much more fluent and speedy my android phone is. I would like to see all the guys who build these custom roms hired to make the official roms!!

Ugh, I've tried to root my phone but I just can't get S=Off for some reason!

I would love to have CM7. I use to have it on my old Nexus One. I do kinda like some elements of Sense though, like all the widgets.

I received this email from HTC this past week. Also, GB is scheduled to go out 2nd QTR of this year, meaning...by the end of this month...HOPEFULLLY!

"I understand how important it is to have the most current software available for your device and I am pleased to inform you that the myTouch 4G is scheduled to receive the 2.3 update later in the second quarter. Updates to the HTC Sense experience and htcsense.com are independent of upgrades to the core OS in our phones and can only be done when the carrier requests it. Please monitor htc.com for further information as we get closer to the update availability."

I hope they do not forget about us. This phone is a really great phone. I had to buy mine used but I HAD to have one. I am on an employee account with T-mobile and do not get discounts on phones. I am currently putting money away for the Sensation but in the mean time this phone really is rock solid. I would like to see the 2.3 update but if its going to be buggy and crash then I would rather stick with whats works!

Along with the GB update, will the MT4G get HTC Sense 3.0? It looks VERY nice! I want it on my phone, but don't know how to get it. Any suggestions?

Highly unlikely as it needs to have the myTouch version of sense. I doubt HTC will make a new version of it until they launch a new myTouch phone.

There has been confirmed pictures of a My touch 4g slider phone that is running gingerbread. I am pretty sure we will see the update as well. However we are not huge on their priority list.

Never said it wouldn't see GB, just that it won't see Sense 3.0. There's already leaked versions of GB for the MT4G.

Interestingly enough, my brother just got a Cincinnati Bell Panache which is a HTC Glacier which is the MyTouch4g and his phone has 2.3.3. on it.

Hopefully when T-mobile upgrades (I'm predicting after release of the MyTouch4g Slide) we'll get 2.3.4.
