Gingerbread Fixes -Maintenance Release

Maint Update didn't fix the folder issue with GB. If you have apps on your SD and place them in a folder, the icons won't load properly after a reboot. It just displays the generic android app icon. You have to change scenes to get them to load properly.

I was hoping this would be fixed in this update. Blahhhhhh.

I received the update earlier this morning. I still see an issue with the GPS toggle. I have to toggle it several times before the GPS actually enables or disables.

I haven't updated as yet. I guess it can't be any worse than it is now. Updating in progress.

Guys, I apologize in advance. I am a total noob and probably sound like a twit. Mucked about in the forums and with google yesterday for a long while until I was going in circles. This update jive has seriously thrown me for a loop because I barely understand what's going on.

I am using a rooted EVO (unrevoked, sorry - live and learn) but have made no ROM mods. None. Still running froyo 2.2. Absolutely no complaints about my phone, except I would like to keep up on updates. AND - I want my flippin' netflix back. Bad.

What should I do? If you can link me, point me to a thread, even call me lighthearted names. I just need a starting point, or to know if I should just be cool and not mess with what ain't broken. :-D

I'm using ADW Launcher EX and I see the same thing. Apps on SD seem to lose their icons after a reboot. It's as if Gingerbread is taking an extra long time to mount the SD card, and the launcher is trying to set up your homepages before the card is fully mounted.

I end up having to wait a minute or two and then restart my launcher (Menu --> ADW Settings --> Restart ADW).

Fortunately, this only happens after rebooting the phone (which I do very seldom).

just got the update took about 3 minutes total. Netflix works perfectly now. except with the message that says there is a new version of netflix and tapping ok would say request not found.

The current version of Netflix in the Android Market is version 1.2.2.

The version that everyone has on their EVO (assuming they didn't delete it when it stopped working), is version 1.2.1.

I don't know who is responsible for updating the app compatibility setting in the Market, but right now the Market thinks the EVO is not compatible with the Netflix app. That is why the app (and those looking for it in the Market on their phone) can't find it when trying to do an update (or reinstall, for those that deleted it).

If you look at the Market website on your desktop, you'll find Netflix and it will tell you that it's incompatible with the EVO (even though the maintenance update has fixed the compatibility issue). This of course needs to be fixed in the Market.

You're going to need to flash the rooted update-ROM.

I flashed the first rooted GB update. I haven't tried this maintenance release yet.

If you look in the GB thread there are links to the rooted OTA GB ROM.

***Edited**** I just flashed the rooted OTA Maintenance release found here:

So far so good.

I am having an incredible amount of Sense reboots. It reboots every time I exit the browser, the market, Feedly, Live Profile, Facebook or Tweetcaster. Any thoughts?

The maintenance release did not fix all the problems.

By locking down the hboot htc/sprint are forcing evo customers to use buggy software in hopes we will give up and buy a newer phone. Does buggy software and constant problems constitute a breach of contract? I say give us back 2.2 -- it just worked.

Wow. You REALLY think this is done on purpose? Conspiracy theorists. I guess UFOs are real also.

Lot's of tin foil hat theories like this about the update.

I highly doubt this is an orchestrated attempt to get yo0u to buy a new phone from them. Usually a poor user experience leads to moving onto a new service provider and brand, not continued brand loyalty.

The more like scenario is they screwed up some stuff and haven't fixed it yet.

I'm hoping for a fix for the sense reload issue myself, but after not seeing it in the MRI'm not near as hopeful anymore :/

no update yet

has any body but me not received the update yet, I figured that I would have had it by now. It's not automatic right? it is something that I have to choose to install right?

*EDIT* Nevermind, just did it manually.
