Gingerbread is here.

I turned off my Wi-Fi and Mobile Data connection last night before bed (as I always do to keep from being interrupted by random notifications while still receiving emergency calls and texts).

Richard,

Have you thought about using a volume control App?. I use "VolumeLock". There is a predefined setting called "Night" which turns off all notifications except alarms and emergency calls.

I am running 2.11.605.0 and am unable to update to the release. I downloaded the RUU and renamed it to update.zip like the instructions say, but it does not update in the bootloader. I am not rooted.

are any of you guy backing up device before hitting the OTA?

is it recommended/necessary?

I would definitely recommend backing up no matter what (OTA or not). I personally use "MyBackup" but others use Titanium backup. MyBackup can be scheduled for backups once a week and it only saves the last 5 backups.

Don't know why, but I still haven't gotten it yet. Been hitting check new twice an hour. Guess it's not my time yet. :(

Try pulling the battery and leave it out for a few mins. I heard that might work!

That's what I need to a link to leak file because when I go to install it clockwork pops up with file aborted when I try to install it

In quick settings It seems like the text status of mobile network does not update properly but the check mark is accurate.

Do I need to get a radio for this or just flash in clockwork? Also do I need to do a full wipe too? Thanks adrynalyne

No, I haven't. Thanks for the recommendation. I'll check it out.

It's in setting > About Phone > Baseband Version

There will be two radios listed - the newest are 1.48.00.0906w_1, 0.01.78.0906w_2

I got my update last night, been waiting since release for it, rather anticlimactic, it is a touch faster though now. As long as the battery life doesn't decrease I guess I will be happy.

Voice dialer doesn't talk back anymore

Now with Gingerbread, the voice dialer doesn't say "speak now", and more importantly doesn't reply with who it thinks i asked to call.

While driving, I've called 3 wrong people out of 5 so far. I have to take my eyes off the road to verify that it is dialing the right person. (is there a setting for this or something?)

Why would they take that away?
