Gingerbread stock email imap problem

I have just updated my stock Nexus one to Android 2.3.3 (build number GRI40, Kernal 2.6.35.7-59423-g08607d4 android-build@apa28 # 1) and I am experiencing trouble with my email app (version 2.3). I had been using the stock email app for my imap account, with not trouble, but after installing Gingerbread the app now indicates that the username and password are incorrect. I have contacted my host server to make sure the setting have not been changed. As a work around I downloaded K9 and set it up with the same imap settings and have had no problems with this, but I would really like to continue using the email app. Has anyone else had this same problem?
