Gingerbread Update Pros and Cons

Has anyone else had this experience?
Both of our inspires (mine and my wife's) require mashing the power button either repeatedly or continuously when turning them on after powering down after the ota update.
All other power button operations behave normally.

I found that if you press it once it takes 4 or 5 secs. before it starts to power up. This is new for me but if you wait it will begin to power up.

It is seems to be a press and hold to power on now, just like it is for powering off. It used to be a single press.

You can get the new market apk from the web.

And the way things are we wont get google video just like netflix. Although it works because it works on the Thunderbolt.

It's slower to load dude due to it being designed for better machines. I have a black version and can live with the slightly longer load. My DHD version won't allow paid app downloads, free are look. good when kids playing with phone.
I posted links...

I loved my HTC Inspire 4G until I updated my software yesterday. It screwed my phone up so bad that I had to call to get a warranty phone, b/c it would only let me send text msgs to certain people others it would flash plz wait and then act like I never sent it and it shows I'm connected to the internet non-stop and actually when I checked my data usage in one day doubled my data usage! I am hoping that when I get the replacement phone that it has the old software on there, and I WILL NOT UPDATE IT AT ALL!!! :'( :(

I'm having the same issue, it's become very annoying...

Does anyone have this problem....when a text comes through even though the contact is in my phone book the name doesn't show.....any solutions?

Turn fast boot off if you have it on. Shut down phone, and remove battery for at least 30 seconds. Replace battery and turn phone on.
This worked for me for the same problem. Seems like most others have had success, there are some posts saying it didn't work though too.

Is anyone else having trouble with their battery? It seems as if mine is worse after the update, not better. I haven't changed any of the sync settings, and in fact have most of them set to either manual or about 2-4 hours. I unplugged my phone at 8am this morning and 5 hours later it's down to 40%. Minimal use, as well. :(

Battery life is better for me slightly. Enjoy the few things Sense 2.1 brings.

Text messaging app is full of bugs and my app icons disappear sometimes.
Hoping for a small update to fix these issues.

the first day of the update for me, my battery lasted the entire day. but not now. i can take it off of the charger around six a.m. and as soon as i turn on wi-fi (around 8 am) it starts going down. about 3:30 or 4 p.m. i have to charge it again. i do not know if its the wi-fi or if the update didn't affect the battery life at all.

I'm really curious to know if a lot of these problems that have arisen with the GB update are happening primarily with those updated OTA. Since the RUU download from HTC wipes the phone during the installation that would definitely be a cleaner installation. I wonder if the quirks in the messaging app and some of the other things would still occur.

I only had my Inspire for a couple of days before i got the OTA update so I really can't notice any improvement in performance. Since it's still pretty new for me I'm playing with it constantly, so I'm only getting about 8 hours per charge. That may be b/c I have WiFi turned on all the time. And the Battery Usage summary shows Display using around 80%+. I don't know how much better it would be when I start using it normally, but right now, 8 hours is pretty disappointing. I was noticing the problems with the messaging app, but I started using Handcent so that wasn't that big of an issue. However, I did tinker a bit with my contacts and now the issue with the app not displaying the contact name seems to have gone away.

So for those of you that updated using the RUU, can you chime in and say if you're also encountering some of the same bugs that others are? If you're not, perhaps it may be worth the time to use the RUU, start clean and hopefully see the improvements I was expecting to see. Thanks.

Here's something weird. I charged my phone to 100% last night and turned it off completely. This morning I woke up and turned it on...down to 14% with power saving mode on! How can the phone be using battery that fast with it turned off??! I've never had this happen before.
