Gingersnap Root Utility (one-click ROOT!!!) Multi-Platform

A custom rom is needed to have removable apps. For zvd 2.2 froyo, reborn is likely the best, or a cyanogenmod rom like drew's or thekravens are good too. Or you could put in a little more work and update to zvh and there are a few good roms for it to !! You will need a custom recovery (xionia is the most commonly used as it works with all lcd versions of this phone) to flash any custom rom, and just make sure the rom is for the right radio version.

Thanks for the information, that sounds like a bit more work than I thought. :-\ It looks like I have yet more reading to do. Considering this phone is iwireless. Not very common, it runs off of the sprint network but it isn't sprint.
I wish I could flash my old US Cellular Mesmerize to work on the iwireless network. If I could it would be worth all of that kind of trouble LOL. Is that something that is even possible?

I went back to Froyo last night after the new Gingerbread was being wacky the last few days (not to mention so laggy). Just ran Gingersnap and rooted just fine :)

I did notice Sprint disabled access to EasyTether in the market. Not that other programs exist but still after paying for it and working well I was a bit ticked :\ Garrrr.

I am a noob who just bought an LG Optimus V. I have been on these forums and google for about a week reading everything I can but I still have a few questions:

Can I root my LG Optimus V before I activate the phone?
I need very explicit instructions from beginning to end. Has anyone written something like this?

Much appreciate any and all help.

ive ran gingersnap a good 10 times and nothing, no root it says its complete though.....

I reverted back to froyo after the crappy gingerbread update last night.

blimpmason just search "ZVC root"

quick question. if i ever have to take my phone in for service, i just load my stock stuff back on and use this utility to unroot and sprint can never tell it was rooted in the first place?

Unroot utility will not replace the custom recovery.

ok. i already knew i had to do that manually. thats no problem. i was more or less wondering if sprint would still be able to tell anything was rooted, even though i used this utility to runroot. just wanted to make sure everything was ok in case i ever did have to take it in for something.

I'm looking for a way to get the app data to go to the sd card instead of the phone. I can't seem to find anything that works. I am rooted any one know how to do this

*** Drew,

If we wish to fully UnRoot (as in if we need to take the phone back to Sprint)...are these the correct steps:

1. - Flash install Stock Recovery

2. - Run GingerSnap (UnRoot)

3. - Delete any Root-related appz (i.e., SuperUser, BusyBox, GingerSnap/Break) as well as any Root-Only Appz (Titanium Backup, SetCPU, etc.)?

Thanks,

BJ
