Gingersnap Root Utility (one-click ROOT!!!) Multi-Platform

just rooted my second Optimus S (i got 2) this time a purple Optimus, I got black and purple.

Took all of two minutes to get files installed and to have a rooted phone, now on to custom recovery update to VD and load a custom rom.

Thanks very much.

I noticed that the Linux version has a unroot option. My question is, does that also restore you to stock? I was just wondering if I am running aospCMod and I choose the unroot option, will I still have aospCMod, just with no superuser?

No it will not restore the stock software. I suppose I COULD maoe it do that but that's somewhat outside the scope of a root utility. That's where nandroid backups come in handy ;)

Makes sense, just wanted to check it out. Thanks for this tool. I am looking to restore my phone to take it in to get the dust out from under the screen. I looked at the unroot thread, but the link for the stock recovery is broken. Just need to find that and I'm golden. Then I can check out the root process of this. Thanks again.

I was just over at the unrooting thread, trying to make sense of it. If you restore a stock recovery nand and then follow your new unroot option, does that in essense return to factory? Who would want to unroot a phone without the stock rom at factory state, what would be the point. I'll be honest the thread for unrooting seems written to confuse unless you really know what your doing.

BTW still loving gingersnap, it made rooting SOO easy.
