Global unlocked G4 (LG-H815) users....

What a great service you people have here. My wife just got hers from Tropical Mobile on eBay and we both thought we bought the wrong kind of phone. The information here was like gold to us. Thank you.

We hate the idea of being attached to a carrier, i.e., AT&T, Verizon, etc, but prefer to use Straight Talk from Walmart (WM) IF we can. I got as far as the 'purchase' page on the Straight Talk website so I'm pretty sure it is compatible with their "AT&T or GSM Unlocked". However, when we went to WM to sign it up and get the package, we were told it wasn't compatible. Frankly, I think they're mistaken. Anyone use Straight Talk with the H815 model? If so, how do you like the service?

I'm going to go back to WM and try again. First timers on Straight Talk have to buy In-Store, according to the website. If the Straight Talk website has the option, then WM should be able to figure it out.

On EDIT: Straight Talk's AT&T LTE Bands are 850 and 1900 (B17). Good?

Straight Talk can be very confusing. People see, to think of Straight Talk as a certain carrier, but in reality your Straight Talk service comes from one of 4 carriers. The H815 will work fine on AT&T and T-Mobile service from Straight Talk. It will not work with Verizon and Sprint service.

I just got this update. I dont know what it did but it showed up this morning.

I just received V10d-AUG-17-2015 via OTA on my unlocked H815, 38.08MB in size. I'm now on Android build LMY47D, V10d-EUR-XX

The changelog is identical to the one for V10c-AUG-18-2015 posted above ("Usability improvements through Google patch"). Presumably the stagefright fix (?), but why call it a 'usability improvement' when it's a security patch ;)

I assume Jason is not in Europe (I am) or perhaps not in the same part of Europe, hence different version numbers even though the update is probably similar / identical.

So far, so good for LG to come through on their promise of monthly updates / patches - I've in fact seen one update each month so far (V10a to b at the end of June, b to c at the beginning of August, c to d in September). I hope they keep it up.

Edit: Stagefright is patched with this update. I haven't noticed any other changes so far.

Love my H815 so far, on ATT in NYC area, travel to Boston often, no issues with LTE, texting. Seems to be using band 17 everywhere that I have checked. The FM radio is a cool app, not sure how much I will actually use it though.
I def like the H815 vs the H810 ATT version. I was a little worried about using the unlocked version here on ATT, but no loving it so far.

Actually you got one of the 275 Wireless Test phones LG sent out. It does not support 4g-LTE. other than that it is the full phone. I got one that is how I know what you got.

Has anyone with a H815 model in the USA gotten an OTA from software version 'VX10b-EUR-XX' yet??

Has anyone with a H815 model in the USA gotten an OTA from software version 'VX10b-EUR-XX' yet??

I have the H815 version VX10b-EUR-XX and I checked and don't have an update.
I am using this on the AT&T network here in California.

I am actually trying to root this and wondering if anyone has and which way they rooted it.
Was it the official way by unlocking the BL and then rooting it with TWRP or the Low Effort Tool way without unlocking
I want to do it the Low Effort way but want to make sure my version will work with the available version 10c.
Two videos on YT say they had version 10b and used the 10c and it worked.
But I noticed one of the videos shows a version V10b-EUR-XX and he said his kdz was USA?

UPDATE: I went ahead and rooted it the low effort way and all is good.
Went from version VX10b-EUR-XX to V10c-EUR-XX
Lost formatting with sd card and had to reformat it to work.
Good thing I backed up what I wanted.
I will be moving on to getting xposed installed and all the apps, modules and mods.

UPDATE 2: Went ahead an got xposed installed with flashfire.
Installation went fine took about 30-45 minutes to finish depending on how many apps you have.
I got lag today and it rebooted for some reason but I will keep an eye on it and post.

LATEST UPDATE
I installed the camera mod and sound mod, everything is fine. Will test the sound mod more.

Using an H-815 here in singapore. Its running v10b-SEA-XX..delayed update for a long time cause got scared with the horror stories i heard here. Turned out ok no major issues after the update.

I have FM Radio as standard which some users here are talking about in one thread. Anyways i dont use it. Also got the Quad Beat earphones in the package. With an extra battery + battery charger & a quick circle case as freebies.
Camera i can say can go head to head with other smartphones out there. My wife used to make fun on my pictures shot from the s4. Now she's quiet. Haha

I wish the G4 had a fingerprint sensor though cause intending to install lotus notes which requires phone encryption and entering password to unlock it. I heard the upcoming G4 pro will have it.

Everyone is talking about International (european) variant and international (asian variant).
How do I know which is mine. Bought it from Amazon btw

If you look at the software version in "about phone" in settings, if you have v10b-SEA-XX, that's a asian(South East Asia) software build
Anything with EUR is european.

I got one of the 275 test phones and put my AT&T Sim card in and it works fine with 4g LTE. I haven't however gotten any updates and am still using VX10B-EUR-XX.

I had no updates either but I do believe I started out with 10a and there was an update that made it 10b. For the international versions the updates come straight from LG and not from the carrier in which you are using it on.
I just rooted it with low effort tool and took the 10c version and all is good, you will lose sd format but I didn't have my card in when rooting.

Hey All,

US user here. I had originally purchased the AT&T H810, but recently picked up the H815 EUR model because I really wanted the FM radio function and the ability to unlock the bootloader, etc. As I started using the H815, I noticed a couple of things that are a little different than the H810, mostly in the lockscreen area:

- On the H810, when you use the power button or knock-on to activate the screen, then pull down from the top before you enter your pattern/passcode, you get the quick settings menu. When I swipe down on my H815 running V10D-EUR-XX, the quick settings menus starts to appear, but then quickly fades to show the current user. There's nothing I can do from this screen other than view it. Tapping the user doesn't do anything either.
- On the H810, when screen security is set to Pattern Lock, I was also able to select a screen swipe effect so that if I turned my screen back on before the timer locked it out, I would be able to use the cool little animations. On the H815, the only way to get the screen swipe effect option to appear is to select Swipe as the security method. When I select Pattern or Password, it's not visible.

Any reason why these functions would be different between devices?
Could it be a bug in the software I'm running?

I've tried playing around with the settings, but I can't seem to get the H815 to match what I was able to do on the H810.

If anyone knows if it's possible to change these things, your help would be much appreciated!!
