So all I do is occaisionally use Gmail for the forwarding of my office email. And I get two notifications, in two inboxes. One in the Gmail. One in the email (yellow icon). One is unnecessary! So how do I make one stop?
Thanks.

Thanks, Chuck, just came back to move this since I realize it's in the wrong section...too late, admin will have to do it.

Delete the work account? I don't have it on there, tho', only forwarded to my gmail address. That's the only thing on there, and yet both the gmail and email services report, and both require deleting the same message.

That is really weird. Somebody would have had to of set up that work account under the general email. Like other pop imap accounts... I guess it is out of my league. Sorry...

Thanks, just to clarify for others: All I have set up, ever, is xxx@gmail.com. So an email comes in, and lands in both the gmail box and the general email box. Same email. Both boxes. And both keep it until you delete it...just wondering if I have something set incorrectly.

Personally, I don't use the email app on the phone, only the gmail app. If you only want the gmail app, just remove your gmail account from the email app. You can also just disable notifications from either app.

Well, if you go into the Mail app, press Menu, press More, press Settings, you can go into Notification settings and turn off Email notifications.

That said, it sounds redundant to have your gmail account set up in both the Gmail app and the Mail app. If you do not need that, you will have noticed in the Settings that there is an option "Delete account". This will definitely stop the notifications.

(One reason you might want the Mail app to also check your gmail account - the People app will associate mail messages received in the Mail app with your contacts in the People app, but not with the Gmail app, so, if you use that feature, you'll want to keep the mail account set up, but turn the notifications off).

Thanks, folks, that's kind of what I was wondering...whether the email app was necessary for the gmail app to work. Apparently not, so I'll try deleting it and see what happens.

Just wanted to say thanks to doogald for this info--fixed the problem my wife was having on her newly-acquired EVO.
