Gmail and Marketplace...malfuntioning?

Ok so this morning when I turned my auto sync back on from a night sleep, my Gmail app would not work. It flashes something to the effect of "this app is not set up to automatically sync"...So then I checked the accounts under accounts and sync and I noticed my Gmail account was gone so was my twitter. I can add my twitter again but it doesn't give me the option to add a Gmail account.

I also can't access the market place either. It says you need to creat an account and then asks me would I like to create the account and I hit yes and then nothing happens and it goes back to my home screen.

I have no idea what happened as the night before(last night) everything was fine and I didn't change anything on the phone.

I did restart the phone this morning after noticed things were a little messed up thinking it would rectify itself after the restart but that was a no go as well.

Has anyone had this problem?

I'm on 2.3.4, but I temp rooted it back on 2.2.1 but I've had ZERO problems updating to 2.3.3 and then to 2.3.4.

I had this problem. The consensus was to do a factory reset. I know it sucks, but my phone worked fine after that.
