Gmail App or Stock Email?

I'm using the gmail app on my S6 as well as my tablet, and I don't see any ads at all.

Funny, I had adds yesterday and so far this morning , no adds. I prefer Gmail app I think so hoping the adds stay away ;)

Once i got used to Inbox i've been using that exclusively. I opened up Gmail recently and realized how ****ty it looks compared to the improved look of Inbox. Unfortunately they've said its not the Gmail replacement, so i shudder at the thought that someday they'll turn off Inbox like they have other projects in the past.

I honestly haven't even tried the stock email app yet.

I'm a bit confused. You said you haven't tried the stock email app yet, but you use Inbox. But inbox do you mean this?

When I reply to an email in the stock email app with EAS, instead of letting me start typing my message, it forces me to tap into the message area and then, because it's a few lines down from the top, I have to hit the delete button a few times. It's friggin' annoying, especially when you've typed a few sentences before realizing they didn't actually go anywhere. The only consolation I have is the SwiftKey remembers almost everything I typed before.

Anyone else having this issue with Exchange Active Sync in the stock email app?

I've been using K9 for a while. I really don't like any app out there, but I'm too lazy (and busy) to learn enough about the Android environment to write one that does exactly what I want, so I'll stick with K9. My only gripe is that it doesn't uncheck an item after you've done something with it (like marked it read - deleted items, of course, disappear). I don't know how it works with Exchange, though - it's been a while since I worried about that poor imitation of software.

Also have the Gmail app for YouTube questions.

Hi, how do I get the normal inbox back? When I updated to 5.1 on my Nexus 5 yesterday it asked if I wanted to use GMAIL to have control of my email and I foolishly said yes. Want the general Inbox back but can't figure out how to get it back.

Thank you

My gmail app wouldn't load or refresh or get new emails at all. I have tried everything. I use it for work so need something else quick. I downloaded the mymail but not a fan of the look I usually don't like stock email apps but that's my next option

I know the options here were stock or Gmail, but there are a ton of alternative email apps out there and I think I've tried them all.

My favorite is MailWise. It syncs with my Outlook Exchange and IMHO is a superior app

I use stock for my hotmail, gmail for my gmail account. I prefer to keep them separated instead of using one for both.

I've been a K9 user for a long time, however since switching to the S6, I've stayed with the stock app. I have 3 IMAP and one Exchange account configured. With K9, I was unable to configure Exchange due to how my company IT have things setup. So I had to use multiple clients.

I like the simplicity of how the stock client configured my IMAP accounts and how it handles attachments. K9 was a struggle for me when it came to attachment.

Each account is customizable and different signatures. Thus far I'm pleased with the stock app.

I use 3 email apps. I use the stock email app only for my Corporate email. This was the only one I could get to work properly with my corporate exchange. I use Mailbox for my Gmail cause the ease of use. Plus it has the ability to swipe down to zero real easy. For all my other emails I use "Type".

Ditto! And if they get rid of Inbox, I'll have a conniption!
