GMAIL app screwed after OTA

Just using my live credentials when setting up in the email app. Using 1 hour sync interval. Nothing special.

So you are using the 2nd option (Microsoft) below, correct? Are you changing anything else in the setup screen? Man, I've tried all 3 and I'm still having issues...

Started happening to me as well after the OTA i got Wednesday.
But when i got the OTA it wiped my phone. So i am starting from scratch. Took a few days but it seems that my Gmail app will start but not load anything. I too have to shut off the phone and turn it back on for Gmail to work.

I started noticing it today. It gets stuck on Gmail launch... only word "Gmail" with Gmail logo shows up, and white screen.. only was to resolve was to reboot.. Chrome behaved bad all evening too.

I had none of these issues before the OTA... wth !!

same exact thing for me. Gmail with the blank screen except just the Gmail at the top. Come to think of it, my phone has had several problems loading the play market, gmail etc since the OTA and I have to reboot to solve the problems

I cleared cache and data on all apps affected (Play, Gmail, Chrome etc) and it's worked fine for me ever since.

The only thing I have changed on this phone in the last 24 hours is the OTA. Everything else has been the same. Since the update, I can't launch gmail app. It opens, but nothing loads. can't back out, cant hit menu. Then a few seconds later i get a notification to wait report and close. Everyone else seeing this issue? Yes ive restarted. I do get it to work once in a while, but it still crashes when I get a notification to an email and click it.

I have had that happen a couple of times. It is definitely from the OTA.

Same here. It definitely started having issues after the OTA. My EvoLTE has been working great since then and now I will occasionally get these weird load issues. I first saw it with Gmail, but the web browser and Google Play all do it also.

I just get this White screen and the only thing that does anything is the home key. A reboot does fix it the problem, but it seems to be happening quite frequently.

Any thoughts on a better 'fix'?

Same issue here. Has happened about 4 times since the OTA.

This morning, I heard my phone notify me of an e-mail, so I checked the notification drawer while the phone was locked. I tried to unlock my phone by clicking on the notification, but it didn't work...when I manually unlocked, gmail was frozen. Had to reset.

Good thing I had my Nexus 7 right next to it so I could respond to that e-mail. :)

Count me in on this issue too. It's happened the past 2 days in the morning when I fire up the internet browser.

In the play store, under the gmail app, leave a 1 star rating and describe the problem and the device. This will get googles attetion.

Then to let HTC know, go to their website and you can go to tech support and email them with an issue on your device.

With those 2 steps you have now let the handset manufacturer know as well as the particular app creator know..

This shyte happened 3rd time this week... GMail goes all white.. just plain white... nothig unless I reboot !

if you call htc and tell them your problem they can help they helped me

Please share what they did to help you. Don't be greedy with the info. LOL! I too, as many others, am experiencing the same issue after the OTA update and would appreciate any insight you can provide. My phone was working just fine until the update.

I too am experiencing this problem. I decided to reload the factory image using the latest RUU. It's a pain to re-setup my apps, but I wanted to remove the "tampered" label caused by rooting my phone prior to the OTA update. I'm hoping this will fix the issue.

BTW, if anyone else goes this route make sure you go into Google Wallet and select "reset google wallet" in settings before you start.

UPDATE 7/22: FYI, the issue is back after reloading the firmware via RUU. In my case, the gmail app stops responding (white screen). A reboot 'fixes' it. Hopefully, this gets fixed soon via another firmware update and/or gmail update.

Does anybody have any idea what causes this and how to fix it without restarting the phone? My browser just locked up again.

I too was having the "white out" issue with Gmail and followed the suggestion by a few of the forum members to clear the Gmail cache.. I have NOT had the problem since.

For all of those having the "white out" issue with Gmail, I highly suggest you try clearing the cache for Gmail.

Thanks to everyone that suggested this fix. It has definitely worked for me.

I found that it only happens on my device if i have not power cycled it for 36 hours or more.
Generally i power off the phone every morning. I did not do it this weekend and Sunday my browser and gmail were showing white screen.
