GMAIL app screwed after OTA

I too was having the "white out" issue with Gmail and followed the suggestion by a few of the forum members to clear the Gmail cache.. I have NOT had the problem since.

For all of those having the "white out" issue with Gmail, I highly suggest you try clearing the cache for Gmail.

Thanks to everyone that suggested this fix. It has definitely worked for me.

Please report back if the issue re-surfaces. I went as far as reloading the firmware on my phone. It worked for a while, but the problem continues. I'm hoping either a fix to Gmail or another OTA update is in the works.

I cleared cache and data on all apps affected (Play, Gmail, Chrome etc) and it's worked fine for me ever since.

This the correct fix. I had this issue PRIOR to the update and did exactly what is stated above. It worked then and I have not had the issue again, not even after the update.

Before clearing the cache I was getting this issue every other day or so... it has been a solid week and a half since clearing the cache and not a single hiccup.

So far so good.

My Gmail sometimes has the same issue. I've found that if I temporarily disable Wifi, it works fine again. Definitely something has changed since the OTA on 7/12.

This is annoying. I have tried resetting the phone, clearing cache/data for gmail, toggling wifi, etc. The only thing that works is rebooting the phone, and then only for a few days at most. This morning I rebooted, and the problem returned within 6 hours. This time I cleared the cache for gmail then uninstalled updates. Gmail started working again sans a reboot. I'm going to hold off on updating gmail to see how long it continues to work.

I am also having the same issue. I've only seen it with google play and gmail so far, but haven't test out the other google apps when something froze.

Only a reboot solves the problem..temporarily. I have cleared cache, data, and force stopped. the problem returns. I have yet to uninstall/reinstall the google apps.

I am very reluctant to factory reset..there has to be some sort of solution!!

If anybody finds out how to fix this problem, please share!

thanks everyone who has contributed to this thread - i'm having the same problem with gmail and the play store that many of you are reporting - but i also have run into it with the google maps.

HTC EVO 4G LTE.

For what it's worth, I started noticing this yesterday (7/29/12) but not immediately after the OTA.

I have tried clearing the cache for gmail, maps, play store and my browser (x-scope which wasn't giving me any problems) but still having trouble. will try a hard reset.

Off topic but i had to post this on my computer because every time i try and log into AC on my phone it takes me to the registration page. what's up with that? i know i'm typing the password correctly. it doesn't say otherwise, it just takes me to the user creation page as if the link button is wrong.

UPDATE: cleared cache, problem persists. also i cant go to the gmail page on the play store app because it freezes.

I have the same problem, and it usually seems to start when my phone switches from WiFI to 3G, or vice versa.

Same issues here, but my Gmail usually freezes after coming out off "airplane mode", or if I am in an area with poor data coverage.

I fixed it seems like you can't disable too many stuff here without causing a negative reaction. So don't disable tasks or add Norton Internet security that block google sync cause of the firewall.

They reotherised Mr google account so my apps would work after the ota and after that I have only have it happen once oh and how they did it they had me put some thing into the dial pad and then reboot

Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk 2

Mine is still doing it! I am going to stop by the Sprint repair store and see if they can do something about it. My Mom also has the EVO LTE and hers does not have this problem. She has also done the newer OTA update.
